On the waitlist - now what?

I guess my question is:

I already have my backup reservation. I'm just trying to go somewhere different for the second week of our early december trip. don't have any strong preferences, even OKW. I'm on the waitlist for the full five days at BWV and BCV and also have 3 of the days reserved in a OKW 2BR HH. If either of these came thru I'd be happy.

So should I just wait it out and hope for the best? I keep wanting to call each day to see if anything has opened up as I don't trust the waitlist. Is this silly? Is there any benefit in calling and checking for availablity or is the waitlist reliable?

I don't want to obsess about this too much and ruin the fun. :)

thanks.

You sound much like me. I am waitlisted for anywhere other than SSR for the first week of December. I booked SSR at 11 months and started calling as soon as I could to get changed to somewhere else. I do call just about daily. I was lucky enough on day to be able to get our last two nights at VWL. Hoping the rest of my days come available at VWL.

We are/were also on a waitlist for the first week of December. Out of 2 nights we are waitlisted for, one has already come through. So, yes it does work. :thumbsup2

Go on dvcmember.com and check to see if your waitlist comes through. I checked several times a day - and also called whenever I felt like it to see if anything had opened up. It was great to see those nights open up online!!

I am still waiting for a "Club #" so I can access the site. :confused3 I have my activation code and my member #, but apparently I still need this other number before I can register on the site. I would LOVE to be able to check online! :thumbsup2

Our upcoming August trip was a last-minute decision (in the world of DVC reservations) and so we are on a waitlist for the Epcot resorts. Where exactly on dvcmember.com should I look for the update on the waitlist? :surfweb:

Once you are logged in, if you look on the right hand side of the homepage, you will see a section called "My Membership." If you click on "View Vacation Details" you will see your booked vacations. I am thinking it would appear in
this section.
I am crossing my fingers for an early Dec. waitlist too :)

I am 2 for 2 using the waitlist- just relax and let nature take its course. One was for a single night at HHI over Sprng Break, the other was for 6 nights (all or nothing) over New Years at OKW. Hope you are as lucky as I have been. Good luck!

Yes, it was the "My Vacation" section. I was actually looking to see if a date showed up with a reservation.

I just checked the member site and we are still booked for Saratoga, which ain't half bad. ;)

good advice...this is what I am going to try to do. Did you ever call or just keep checking the website?

Call Member Services. They can give you your Club ID over the phone. If you purchased a resale contact, you will never get your Club ID any other way.

It does come through, although I would never have believed that. We were waitlisted for our December 2007 trip at our home resort of OKW and all four nights became available.

Thank you! We bought from Disney, and the guide said the Club # would be in our documents, but that the documents take about 5 days to arrive. He also said there would be a quality assurance guy calling me and I could get the Club # from him, but he hasn't called yet. If MS has my Club # that would simplify my life tremendously! :rotfl:

If you are in the system, MS can access your Club ID. It can take a few days to get into the system even if you purchase from Disney. It depends on how busy MS Admin is. Good luck!

That phone call took about 30 seconds, and most of that was getting through the automated prompts! :) She was able to give my the Club ID immediately, and I was then able to turn right around and log on to the member site! Thank you again!!! :goodvibes

Here's what I would do:

Call MS when it isn't likely to be busy - say mid-afternoon. Tell the CM that you want to be sure your waitlist was entered correctly and would he/she be so kind as to tell you what it says. Try not to give them much info about what you requested so you know they are actually reading back to you what is there. After you are sure the waitlist is in correctly, log on to www.dvcmember.com as often as the spirit moves you. As the others have posted, you will see the reservation there as soon as it is made.

Good luck!
