On the road again..........

What a great day we had!!!! We started with the Breakfast buffet here at Coco Key. $11.95 per adult , kids eat free.. Choices.... Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, Biscuits, gravy, toast, bagels, cereals, oatmeal, pancakes french toast, muffins, grits, juices, coffees, teas..... Very good and filling.

before heading out to Universal I went down to the front desk to check out the safes to store my laptop and IPad. There are not safes in the rooms so this was a good option. It kind of looked like a post office box that closed up and locked and I took the only key. All of my stuff fit easily. I had to fill out a little paper work and I was on my way.

Universal was busy when we arrived around 11am. We went straight back to Harry Potter and Grace and I got in line for Forbidden Journey. The line said 60 minutes, but we were in and out in 40. I tried the seat before going in and I fit just fine on the regular one. I did ask what would have happened if I had been too big. I was told that if I had gotten the yellow light, I would be in a modified seat. If I got a red light , I was out of luck. The ride was great, but not life changing. I also asked if I had needed a modified seat would I be separated from my family. The answer is no, as long as my entire family wasn't in modified seats we could be together. both seats on the ends of every set are fixed for larger. I couldn't see any difference.

The park was fun, but the water park here was calling us back....

I was not sure about the $19 resort fee here, but I now think it is well worth it. For my family it was $4.75 per person, per day for loads of cool fun. And when we check out tomorrow we can stay and play all day if we want to. So that is 3 days of water fun for a 2 night stay.

The water area was really hopping this afternoon. lots to do, good food to eat, great arcade. You can go in to get a drink or snack and charge it on your wrist band. They also have refillable cups for $9.95 to use during your entire stay.

The Water park does close at 7pm in the fall. But the main pool is still open and has a really cool fire feature I am checking out tonight. I saw it last night from our window. It looks like a giant fish tank with flames coming out of it. Not sure what that is about.

We had a big lunch at Bubba Gumps today, so we just had snacks for dinner tonight.

When we first got back here this afternoon we were all tired, but everyone perked up quickly when we hit the water. In no time Grace was dragging Stella around in the water just to tick her off. Grace even met a guy that goes to the same school she does.... How weird is that?

I'm going to head down and check out the flaming fish tank... I'll let you know if the fish are boiling.......

^ Unbelievable ! :sad2:

Glad you had fun, though....

The photos on Facebook showed how lovely the rooms are in the hotel.
I was not sure about the resort fee when I heard it on the podcast.
But as it is per family rather than per person then it is not that bad.

Do you have to buy it for the length of stay or can folks just buy it for a certain number of days ?

Back home.... boo hoo.. Another week end comes to an end.
Great time was had by all. Last night we all took a walk around the quiet pool area. I was a nice change to the action in the water park area. Groups of people sitting around in the cabanas talking and hanging by the Fire aquarium. . We had Pizza in the room for a late dinner. Pizza hut is on property and delivers to the room.

We discovered a weird thing about the tv's. Everything was running 3 hours late. The girls wanted to watch a movie on Nick at 8pm. and they were advertizing that it came on at 8pm. it came on at 11 pm. not sure what that was about. Grace passed out and missed to movie. Stella stayed up til the end at 1am. I sat there with my IPad in the girls room watching Criminal Minds. ( Kelvin was asleep in our room and heaven forbid there is a light or noise to bother him).

Our last morning at Coco Key was nice and smooth. Check out was easy. We ended up spending around $100 on food for the week end . Not too bad for the 4 of us.

I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting alittle something extra in where they stay. The area is touristy (is that a word). But I like that. People walking around shopping, eating getting on the trolley.

The staff at Coco Key is a young one, lots of smiles and energy. very helpful and wanting to make our stay the best.

I will be back Coco Key......... my girls are already planning....

T, I wonder if the hotel Satellite or Cable was a west coast feed. That would explain the 3 hours difference! Glad y'all had fun! Looking forward to hearing about it.

T - sounds like they had the West Coast feeds for all the stations! All networks have 3 satellite feeds - East, Central (1 hour off), and West(3 hours off).

We have that issue here where our ATT Uverse HD comes in East Coast feed, but our other stations come West Coast. Used to be we recieved 2 separate feeds on 2 separate stations. They are only now converting that and only on some channels.

Glad you had a great weekend.

Jinx!!! :cool1:

Good review, T!:thumbsup2 What is the approx. drive time distance to the various parks?

Awesome report!! I was waiting for someone to try this out cause I was looking at them!! I'm going to sort everything out and see if I can save some money on these

So there is a resort fee of $4.75 per person per day?

Also, I was reading some hotel reviews...there were complaints about the air conditioning unit being extremely noisy as well as theft issues.

Anyone else heard of these complaints?

No the resort fee isn't $4.75 a day.
It's $19 per day for a room so when you are staying there like Teresa did with 4 persons then it comes to a $4.75 a day per person.

sounds like a great weekend! That place looks like a good pic when we finally do another Universal/SeaWorld trip.
