We've done many fun trips when our kids were young and also as seniors :goodvibes! Best wishes for a fun filled safe trip with good weather ! Keep the great photos coming!:flower3:

So, it's been raining down here for days. It's suppose to rain again all day today, so I decided to start packing. I will post pictures later. I hope everyone is enjoying the preview pictures.

So sorry for the delay, but I have been so busy the past couple of weeks with closing the end of the school year. Today is my official last day of work until August. I will however be working at my school during the summer here and there working on curriculum. I have to go in today and finish packing up my room so that the custodial staff can move my stuff to a new room. I'm so excited to officially be leaving in 7 days. I will hopefully be taking my computer with me to write during down time. I will be posting packing pictures in the next few days. I hope all is well with everyone and I can't wait to share my report with everyone.

just found your post. the pictures of cades cove are so pretty. i'll try to follow along on your trip because you're going to places i've been and love. have a safe trip. thanks for sharing.

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I have written in my trip report. We are back and had an amazing time. I've been so busy at work. My principal has asked me to help out with ordering curriculum and new furniture for this coming year. I am going back to school to get my Masters in Curriculum, so he thought it would be a good experience for me to do this. I have plenty of pictures and some video that I will be posted in the next few days. I will give you some previews of what is to come: seatbelt problems, flash flood, 11 black bears, and bikers getting kicked out of hotel.

Day 1 June 12

DH and I got up at 3am to get ready and finish packing last minute things. We were out the door at 4am to pick up my parents. We arrived at their house at 4:30am, packed up their suitecases and we off in our upgraded vehicle. Yesterday when we went to pick up our Tahoe from the rental car place, they upgraded us for free to an E85

. We were very happy. This gave us more room. We stopped while on the road for breakfast at McDonalds. We got to Savannah around 12:30pm and decided to try an check in early. We didn't have any luck, but were told that our room would be ready by 2:30pm. So, we decided to head to:

It cost us $3 each to tour the Fort. We all love historical places, so this was perfect for us. When we got out of the car, it was very hot. Don't get me wrong, I'm used to hot. I live in South Florida, but this humidity was awful. We started walking around the Fort exploring.

This is a picture of a door to one of the undergound bunkers. While there you can explore some of the open ones.

This is the General's Quarters:

Next, we went up to the roof top. Warning: If you go there, please be careful because there is no railing or wall around the edge of the roof overlooking the courtyard of the fort.

Back downstairs we went and I found a jail.

So my mom and I decided to...

lock the guys up.

We finished looking around and stopped at the gift shop. Man, was it hot. When we got to the car, my dad decided that he would drive instead of DH. He turned on the car and the temperature was 102 and this was with a ocean breeze. We decided to head over to Tybee and check it out. Well, this is where we ran into a problem. We couldn't get to the beach. All the roads were blocked. We found out later why. So, not being able to do this we decided to head back to downtown. My mom called the hotel and our room was ready. We unpacked and freshened up. We decided to get something in town instead of eating at Crab Shack, since we were all tired. We ate at Outback Steakhouse. After dinner, we returned to our hotel to relax. My dad decided to watch the ships go up and down the river. Here he is at his post:

While relaxing, we found out why we couldn't get the Tybee beach. Well, Miley Cyrus was there taping her new movie. Oh yeah, and the Jonas brothers were in town too. The news said that they were looking for extras for the film and that anyone who was interested should be at the location at 3am. I thought about going. Man, if I did I would have been very popular with my students. I opted out though since I didn't want to get up that early.
