I have been blessed over the past few years to have been able to use the amazing Armed Forces Salute discount. We have been able to take some amazing vacations that we might not have otherwise because the discounts gave us the ability to upgrade our stays. :goodvibes

I, for one, am incredibly thankful to Disney for offering such an amazing opportunity for us military Disney families. It certainly makes those deployments a little easier knowing that when my DH comes home, we can go off to Disney. :wizard:

So, I am anxiously waiting for the 2014 rates to be released and sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for word on whether the discount will be renewed. I have been stalking the Military Disney tips website (which is run by an AMAZING Dis'er SteveTLT) hoping for a renewal. Last year we didn't hear until August. I'm hoping for earlier this year, one way or another.

Anyone waiting with me??? popcorn::

I'm waiting!! I like to randomly ask different reservation CMS in hopes of a positive indication... They probably don't know but ill go with what I can haha

We usually use the room rates, and love that benefit, and don't use the special promotion tickets, because we can go longer than the 4 days because of the room rates, but for 2014, I am really hoping for tickets!

I will be staying at SoG for the first time because my daughter is getting married there, and with a short trip and paying for a wedding, I *really* want those tickets!!

I knew I couldn't be the only one chomping at the bit!!! :lmao:

There is very positive indication on the military Disney tips website. You can actually sign up for email alerts there as he will be given the exclusive word on renewals. I'm trying so hard to be patient! Do you already know your dates? Where you want to stay?

We always use the room rate and we actually purchased military annual passes which were well worth it!! I am doing a quickie trip in Sept. though, so for the first time I am actually hoping for those 4 day hoppers for that trip. :goodvibes

Then we will likely get new annual passes (ours expire in July) and use them along with the room discount in 2014 (and hopefully 2015). :goodvibes

Dear funny little soldiers who live in the deepest darkest depths of the pentagon and plan my life, PLEEZZE station me close enough to Disney to make annual passes a reasonable thing for us when we next PCS (And please make it soon! I hate this base!)

:rotfl:

(Now the way they actually work I will probably end up in Alaska. :( )

:scared1: I hope you don't end up in Alaska!! :lmao:

DH is the military guy and he's been to (and despises) Alaska. :rotfl2:

I hope you get stationed somewhere close to Disney! :wizard:

Count us in for waiting on 2013-2014 Discount too. We have been able to take five family trips to Disney using either Room Discount/Salute Tickets plor SOG / Salute Tickets plan. We would never have been able to make all those trips without the great military discounts. I know the discount can end at any time, but I'm always hopeful for each year's continued deals.

ME!!!

I will be going in early october, just about a week after the current promotion expires. :(

I'm going for the TOT 10 miler, so I can't adjust my dates, unfortunately.

So, right now my room is booked with a Run Disney package, but if a military discount comes out and I can get a better rate, I will want to do that. I just hope they announce it within my cancellation window!

We are going in January! This is the first trip with my family and my mother, sister (before she graduates) and grandmother. It's my grandmothers first time (she's in her 70s) and I'm so excited to share that moment with her, although we are staying at the fort I've had to do major convincing and financial planning for them to afford the planned trip, if I can't share the military pass deal with them it will dramatically change the price for them and I just think it will be impossible :(

Yeah, my Sept trip is 9/29-10/2, so not including current discount dates. I would be so excited if it were renewed in order to use those 4 day tickets for the first time!!

Hi there guys!

Thanks so much Mousemommy1 for starting this thread, I'm flattered! and thanks to you too Disneyaddictz for the newsletter plug.

I just saw this post, I was out of town for a military retirement.

I actually just talked to Disney yesterday and while no news yet, I am "very" encouraged. I was told I might hear something in a month or so. They confirmed again their intent to let me know first. I even offered to QC the offer for them prior to contract negotiations with MWR, to work out the usual kinks that in the past have had to be fixed during the first month or so (we'll see).

I have been constantly advocating for an earlier announcement or the holy grail of a permanent discount (with annual price adjustments) and they really do seem to get it, that is our difficulties trying to plan for the Oct-Dec timeframe with the leave/deployment constraints we have to deal with.

On the other hand they are a business, responsible to their shareholders to be profitable, so they really crunch the numbers before extending an offer like this. That's why a permanent discount would be so good both for us (we can make plans when we need to) and Disney can adjust the price just as they do for the general public.

For my family we are looking at late October. Our favorite time to go. It's cooler, the crowds are down, AND the Epcot Food and Wine Fest is going on...

Thanks again friends!

Steve

Thank You for your Help!!! :worship: I will be waiting!! Doing the 199 days dance today!!!! party: :dancer:

Count me in! We have already purchased airline tickets (got a GREAT deal) so we are going regardless.. It would be nice if we could do WL if they approve the extension!

As another person obsessed by this question, I am subbing here. (Already receive the disney military tips newsletter.) We are running Wine & Dine in November, so we are committed to the trip but hoping for a room discount so that we can stay at a deluxe resort. So appreciative of all the years Disney has offered this great set of deals for military, but I'd love to take advantage of it again.
