My husband and I will be in Orlando for the week of Oct. 24-31 for a paintball tournament being held at Disney's Wide World of Sports, so we will be going there at least 4 days of the 7. We also have season passes to Universal/IOA and definitely are going there. My question is if it would be worth the extra money to stay on-site at Disney? We would not want Disney tickets other than going to the WWS. I don't want to spend a fortune on accommodations, as this will be our 2nd trip there this year and it will be just the two of us. I definitely need a room with a fridge since we will be there for a week but not concerned about cooking, just something to keep drinks cold.

Thanks for your help

I think if you're going to spending most of you're time "on-site" and you can stay at one of the All Stars for under $100. a night, you should probably do that. You'll also have to pay an addt'l charge for a fridge in your room per day.

If there's an event going on, the resort might be really busy and noisy there as well.

There are some great hotels with mini-kitchens offsite and less than 15 minutes to WDW.

I guess it all would depend on if you have your own transportation or not and the cost of your accommodations onsite vs. offsite.

Do you have any room rates to compare?

I would definitely stay offsite. You can get an inexpensive room on 192 and be as close to WWS as some of the onsite hotels. Plus you should be able to find a room with fridge included and probably even breakfast included for less than the cost of a Disney Value hotel. Why pay Disney prices if you don't need to. Even when you factor in a rental car, it would probably still be as cheap or cheaper to stay offsite.

You're going to WWS and Universal. Disney hotels offer NO special benefits to you and cost more ($10/day for a dorm fridge!). You'll need a car (or lots of taxicab/shuttle transfer$) regardless of where you stay, with your plans.

I agree with disneysteve, look for a place in Kissimmee near the Maingate or perhaps in Lake Buena Vista, since that would be more of a midpoint between WWS and Universal.
