Do they exist and if so which hotels have rooms which sleep 5 - on site rather than the explorers etc. thanks

As stated above, it's the Newport Bay or the Disneyland Hotel.

But - it can often be cheaper to book to adjoining rooms in a normal hotel than it is to book a family room, as these command a large premium compared to a standard room.

We looked at a family room in the DLH for 4 of us and this came up significantly more expensive than one standard room, so it's worth considering all options.

Am I right though that if you book 2 standard adjoining rooms you would have to pay single adult supplement in both rooms (assuming it was 2 adults and 3 children of course)

If that is the adult numbers, then yes that would be the case.

We are 3 adults and a child (hence why we looked at family rooms) so would have only incurred one single supplement in our case.

They would be treated as two seperate room bookings - you would need to add a request for adjoining rooms. As such, the normal supplements would apply.

we also have this problem as having 3 children & this trip my mother in laws coming so that makes 6, we are staying at The Cheyenne & have adjoining rooms.

Hi, we have the same problem.

We managed to get a really good deal though with the 40% discount.

It worked out cheaper to have 2 rooms adjoining (although that's not guaranteed apparantly) than a family room or a room at the Explorers.

Make sure you ask to check different dates for different hotels though.

We're getting 2 rooms at the New York, cheaper than the Santa Fe just because of the dates. So take some time and make your travel agent work for you to try and get the discount if possible.
