Does Paradise Pier really cost $270 +/_ per night for late april 2009 (after spring breaks)?? That is more then the moderate hotels at DW. And wouldn't PP be concidered a value resort?
And oh my gosh Grand Calafornia would be more than $400 a night, REALLY?!?!

I would love to stay on property, but these prices are crazy.

Am I just looking in the right place or are these really the price per night of these resorts?

Those prices are probably right.

There are no value resorts at DLR. They don't even rate them Moderate or Deluxe. You just can't scale them in the same way, to it's best not to even try.

Think of it this way - the value and most moderate resorts at WDW are like highly themed motels, meaning that you enter the rooms from the outside of the building. None of the hotels at DLR are built in this fashion - they are considered true hotels.

At WDW, there are different levels of Deluxe Hotels - based on amemnities and how far away they are from the parks. You can think about the DLR hotels in that manner. PP is the furthest away from a park entrance and doesn't have as highly themed/large of a pool, so it costs less.

PP would not be considered a value hotel or even moderate by WDW standards. It is a true hotel as it does not open outside like the values do at WDW. The good neighbor hotels on Harbor near the esplanade are more of the "value" quality that you would see at WDW. But you are actually closer to DL at tsome of these motels than you are staying at PP< DLH or GCH

I agree with the pp's. It isn't a value resort in anyway! It is a true hotel and if you are trying to compare it to WDW...it is freaking close to the parks! Yes, a bit of walk but still...all the hotels at WDW that are that close to any of the four major parks are deluxe resorts....not moderate or value. Those prices are correct.

If you are looking for more moderately priced accomodations, the Good Neighbor hotels are right up your alley. Howard Johnson and Candy Cane Inn get a LOT of positive buzz here on the DIS. You can walk from HoJo's to the park entrance in about 10-15 minutes. The Candy Cane Inn has their own free private shuttle to the park.
