On Ride Photos Coming to Pirates

I love ride photos, this sounds great! The best part of memory maker is getting ride photos. We purposely looked for and re-rode rides that took pics because we had memory maker and wanted to have a bunch of fun ride pics.

People love on ride photos.

Despite knowing this in theory and reading responses, my question is still the same "why just why". It's like people are speaking a different language.

Even if I want weird pictures of my family on a ride when they never know where to look or look like they are plummeting to their deaths and hate me forever (RnRC), I do NOT want pictures of strangers like that. And I don't know why anyone else wants pictures of people who are strangers to them!

Disney will finally capture those that take quick naps on POTC, like me. Ah the memories - look Mommy is sleeping! LOL

Yep.

I wish I had infant triplets and I would just sit on Pirates all day long nursing the babies one at a time until Disney realized that a picture on a long dark ride isn't THE best idea ever.

I'm in that group of people who has an AP, so I say keep those ride photos coming! I'd love to have a ride photo in every ride.

Speaking of which.... is it not strange that they went with a Pirates ride photo before a NRJ or FoP photo? Wonder where the logic was behind that?

I am guessing that Flights of Passage is a tougher one to make work than Pirates, but it could be really cool if done right. They can't just take your picture though. If you're sitting off to the side, you can see how the theater is laid out. It's just a lot of rows of people sitting in dark rows on ugly 16-people platforms, not very attractive looking. They'd have to figure out how to position a camera and flash so that it doesn't interfere with the movie. Then use some computer graphics like they do with some other ride photos, but on steroids. Maybe make each one a solo picture. Drop in a spectacular background behind each person, and insert a majestic, soaring banshee under them. It would be entirely a composed shot.

The only other thing that's not great about the photo is that each person would be wearing a pair of 3D glasses. Also, for those purists, this whole idea contradicts the plot of the attraction, which is that your avatar is riding the banshee, not you in goggles. But that's a minor point. Who knows? I'm sure they've thought about it and decided for some reason it would not be available (at least not at launch).

Memory Maker is free with our 21 day ticket (available in UK only) so we always scan our magic bands when there's a photo opportunity. However, it's the thrill rides that get a second look, and shown to friends and family on our return. We have some crackers from TOT, RnRC, Splash, TT, EE. We also enjoy the little videos that now come with TOT and 7DMT. I can't say the Dinosaur ones have turned out too well though, maybe we just have frequent riders in our car along side us who know what to expect.

The 21 day ticket is available for all guests outside of the US and Canada. It's called a UK package (or something like that), but can be purchased by others as well (like us :)).

Regarding the on ride picture- yay!! I love onride pictures!

Oh yes. You make some good points. I had not even thought about the glasses. Maybe they could have a separate photo area for all guests (even those who can't ride for whatever reason) where guests have the opportunity to pose on a banshee. With some added special effects, that would make a pretty cool magic shot.

The only group (AKA strangers) photo I like is Tower of Terror. I love looking at everyone's faces when it's dropping down. This one will just be a boat full of strangers surrounding us staring ahead. Not exactly exciting IMHO
Maybe not as exciting, but still pretty cool with the borders and all that. I love it!

Question on the photopass/memory maker thing. If I don't purchase the package, can I still touch the band to the image and buy it separately? I also understand you can buy a one day package for the Halloween party?

I like looking at the photos and laughing but never ever buy them. Way too expensive unless you have a package of some sort. Imagine how much money they could make if they just charged 5 bucks a photo? Then I would probably buy them!

I do wish we bought the photo of my mom on a ride at Hershey Park. It was a crazy wooden coaster and the look on her face was hilarious!
