how can i record videos whilst riding rides - i like to hold on sowont be able to actualy hold a camera and on you tubethere are loads of on ride videos where people dont hold a camera either... confussed !!!
I will be interested to see suggestions for hands free recording. I just hold on with one hand if I feel the need to steady myself and the camera in the other.
I must admit I have rode and taken video at the same time on most of the major rides in the parks - with varying degrees of success I might add.
The only time I was approached by a CM I was able to show him the wrist strap and that it was tightly secured to me and he was happy with that.
As for hands free recording I know you can get cameras that you can fix to a helmet (when mountain biking for example) and also ones that are on sunglasses - but whether these can be adapted in the way you want to use them I don't know.
You can also get something like the image below, but this may also not be practical as most rides advise you to remove hats.
I filmed us on Splash Mountain but it was a mixed result, trying to keep holding the camera up as we went over the edge!
The only thing I could think of for hands free filming was something like a gorillapod to wrap a camera around your arm or the safety rail of a ride (if that's allowed?)
I don't know about WDW but certainly at Universal they won't let you ride if you're holding a camera. The instructions are clearly "hold onto the safety bar" at all times.
We got stuck half way up Duelling Dragons waiting for some fool to put his camera away...he had to be told at least 5 times.
It almost beats the guy who argued and argued and argued with the guy about whether his shoes would stay on during the ride. CM insisted they wouldn't; bloke insisted they would. Eventually the CM let him ride and at the end of the ride, just before we pulled into the loading station, we heard a little voice say, "I lost my shoooooooe".
Well I must have been lucky then. I have a couple of ride photos with me holding a DSLR in my hand
I think it is not so much that you have a camera on the rides including EE, but whether it is secured with a wrist or neck strap as a flying piece of equipment on a ride like RnR would obviously be a huge safety issue.
There are so many ride videos taken on RnR on youtube that I can't see that it is taboo - there must just be some basic sensible steps that have to be taken to ensure it is not going to pose a threat to anyone else.
when we went skinng saw a fella with a camera strapped to his chest it was held on with cross straps like a baby carrier if you know what i mean looked neat and he said he got good footage while skiing but don't think would be suitable for rides as would be hampered by restraint, and one of our lessen group had one of these http://www.hammacher.com/publish/76427.asp but dont think i would go that far
