On-Property Lunch after Vow Renewal

I just read in another thread that anyone showing up in "wedding attire" on Disney property will be escorted off. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, it could pose quite a problem for us. We have planned our vow renewal for off-property, because having it in a Methodist church was of primary importance to us. However, we are combining our 25th anniversary vow renewal with a family reunion at Disney, and have already arranged for a limo to take us straight from the vow renewal to MK to have lunch together as a family after the ceremony. I didn't plan on stopping by the resort to change in between. While I won't be in a typical poofy, long wedding gown, we will all be dressed in nice clothing... me in a tea-length white dress that looks like a destination wedding type gown and probably still carrying my small bouquet to put on the table as we dine, my husband in a suit with a bouttonierre, kids and grandparents in dressier clothing... all for lunchtime. Will they truly escort us away?! It's not like we're going to be standing somewhere with a minister saying "I Do"... I would think it would be obvious that we're walking straight to the Castle for our reservations. What do you think? Or where should I call to get this clarified before we arrive with all of our family, and a lunch reservation, and get sent packing???!?! Thanks for any info! -Ev

Additional question... what is the definition of "wedding attire" by Disney? Do they just mean a traditional wedding gown? If they mean anything dressy, does that mean anyone who wants to go out to eat for their anniversary can't wear nice clothing to an on-property restaurant?!

I wouldn't bring in the flowers, and I'd have your DH take off his jacket. Other than that you should be fine! Where are you planning on dining? And congratulations on your upcoming anniversary.

Hi there and Happy Anniversary!!

I just called WDW for you and asked about what you wanted to do. I described what you and hubby would be wearing, told them about the flowers, and they said...

NO PROBLEM!! And to quote her, "the prettier, the better!"

She told me, the primary reaon they do not want guests showing up in full wedding attire is because of safety issues. Long poofy gowns and crowds just do not mix well, tripping hazard and so forth. But she said what you are planning to wear would be just fine.

As some added suggestions, be sure as you are walking down Main Street, to have one of the street photographers go with you and have some pictures made of you and your guests in front of the Castle as well as some nice shots of you and hubby. They make take you to some really neat places near the castle to do this. Try to allow time for this before your lunch reservation. I suggest before, in case you spill something on your dress. I know no matter how hard we try, it can still happen.

Also, call WDW dining and you can arrange for a special Anniversary cake for your luncheon. I'm sure they can do this, Especially since your having lunch at CRT. They do some incredible edibles there!! Hubby and I had one made for our anniversary dinner at 1900 Park Faire in the Grand FLoridian. It was beautiful!! It had gum paste roses and a white chocolate Mickey and Minnie bride & Groom on top. Not sure if CRT can do this, but I'd ask. By the way, it fed a good 14 people and was $40. It was an 8 inch cake, Vanilla with butter cream icing, and a vanilla custard and fresh raspberries in between the 4 layers. It was as delish as it was beautiful. GO FOR IT!!

Lastly, have a most "MAGICAL" day, and I pray it will be your best anniversary ever!!!

Blessings,
Winnie

Winnie, thank you!!! That is very good news! For future reference, where do you call to get that type of information? Just the regular reservation line... or is there a special guest services desk? I had considered calling guest services at MK ahead of time just to be sure. It would be very embarrassing and extremely inconvenient to be turned away... and I imagine it would also be impossible to reschedule the lunch at CRT at that point too! The photog idea is great! I wonder if they could prearrange for one for us. During our last trip, we searched EVERY park looking for a Disney photog and were only successful in finding one ONCE! It was quite frustrating, but the parks were crowded, so I imagine they were all busy with other guests. Again, thanks for your response... wonderful suggestions and I truly appreciate your kindness! -Ev :)

We renewed our wedding vows, off sight, in 2004. After the service we had a limo take us to Epcot. We had an ADR at Rose and Crown as we wanted to eat while watching Illuminations.

Although we weren't in wedding attire, we were very dressed up. I also had my bouquet to put on the table. We had no problems in the park. In fact the CMs couldn't have been nicer. During the meal we were presented with a Special Moments Certificate :tink: signed by all the CMs in the restaurant.

Enjoy your day

I really like that idea! What did you wear since you were really dressed up? When you made the ressies did you mention you were a wedding party or did you leave that part out?

Thanks for sharing this! I'm new to the forum, so I need a little translation, please... ADR means ? and CM means ? Haha, I'm sure it will be very obvious and I'll feel silly once you explain it to me. I'm also curious how you went about making your reservation. -Ev

This is kind of off subject, but has Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) taken the place of Priority Seating or are these separate things???

I wore an afternoon summer short cocktail style dress. My DH wore trousers and smart shirt, my DD wore a lemon party dress and DSs wore shorts and shirts. I had my bouquet and the others wore button hole flowers. I'd love to show photos, but as I haven't posted enough, I'm not allowed. :(

When we made our ressies, I mentioned that we were renewing our vows that day and could we have an outside balcony table. The CM said they could not guarantee it, but to mention again when we arrived. We did this and got a fantastic view of Illuminations. :cheer2:

Hope this helps.

Yes, and ADR is the same as a priority seating reservation
I called a few weeks ago to make arrangements for dinner, and they are now just calling it "reservations". They said the PS and ADR just wasn't getting through or making sense to people.

As for who did I call, I called 1-407-WDISNEY and just ask for Guests Services. This is who you need to call and see if they can pre-arrange for a CM photographer to take some special shots for you.

For Dining you can call to make ressies at 1-407-WDW-DINE

disney photography has a 2 hour minimum at a cost of $200. were doing this for our welcome dinner, I spoke with Karen.

Hubby and I spend our anniversary at WDW every year. Last year we spoke with a CM Photographer at the GF. He looked up who was working on Main Street near the Castle. He then told us where to go and look for this CM and their name. We did and they took some awesome shots from 3 different spots near the castle. We did not have to pay any extra. Just used our photopass. Now I guess if you want them done "professionaly" you can make special arrangements and pay a fee.

We liked the price of what we did much better! LOL!!

We got to view them online after we got home and order what we liked. It was great! Of course you can also view them before you leave and get them on the spot as well.

Blessings,
Winnie
