On or Off Property?

We are having trouble deciding between an on or off property resort for our spring 2012 honeymoon. Can anyone help us with this? We are looking at a luxury disney hotel or jw marriott/ritz carlton
A few things to consider:
-while we are SUPER excited about going to WDW for our HM, we aren't huuuge disney fans or anything (don't hate me! I love Disney and all but it just wouldn't be my facebook interest!)
-we will be driving, not flying in
-we won't be doing disney stuff every day -- will also be doing universal,
discovery cove, cirque du soleil one night, etc
-we want the best atmosphere, and the most "honeymoon" like ov
-price is obviously a consideration too!

My DH and I honeymooned at Disney's Old Key West Resort. We rented points from a DVC member, and it was really affordable. The theme isn't very "Disney," but it was beautiful. One of the board sponsors is how we were able to rent the points. The nice thing about Old Key West was the proximity to Downtown Disney and the other attractions outside of Disney property.
