An American Astronaut and two Russian Cosmonauts boarded the International Space Station for the first time, turned on the lights and the life support systems and began an epic voyage in space, far above the Earth. Sadly, the ISS is soon to be scuppered, ending over 25 years of ground breaking research and innovation.
Interestingly enough, one of the Cosmonauts, Oleg Kononenko, returned to Earth on September 23, 2024, after a record-breaking 374-day continuous stay on the ISS. This mission finalized his total time on the station at 1,111 cumulative days.
