Was wondering if I can still get the perks a Platinum Loews cardholder would get even though we haven't used it for three years. We want to go this year but aren't sure if we'd have to start all over again as a Blue cardholder?

Call the number for Loew's First and ask them. I haven't used mine since 2006 and I checked if I was still GOLD and they said I was.

I thought they changed something within the past year or two, and if you didn't stay at a Loews hotel at least once per year, you reverted back to Blue?

Will you come back and tell us what you find out? I'm sure a lot more people than me would love to know the skinny.

I thought so too, but when I called to double check my status, they told me that I was still GOLD! That is when I was upgraded for my next stay.

I believe it does say that in the "terms and conditions" of their website.

Hmmm, we should have keisha check in here ... I believe she is the one who had a problem with her status for a similar situation? I'll have to ask her to check in here.

Who knows.....it could have been an "error in my favor" kind of like in Monopoly....

to the OP, i would just call the special telephone # & book whatever level you had obtained, of course having your member # in-hand, etc.

my cliff note saga

I thought we had earned our required stays to achieve gold via 2 visits in a 12 month period of 5 nights @ the hotel...

was told NOPE! told the 2 stays had to be earned in a calendar year...so sad, too bad.

went back to drawing board & booked 2 more trips (June & Oct. in same calendar year) still - NOPE. Was told a different account # was used to book the account (how i wound up with 2 is beyond me:confused3 ); i promptly canceled it & made sure all were booked with the same numberpopcorn:: .

Had issues during June trip in '07, wherein we got yanked around as to room type, service issues galore; wound up comped 1 night for future travel after i fired off a letter to GM:banana: . For that visit had VIP status on room keys; and when we got home had gold cards waiting for us:)

I called the # listed on the letter & was told once you reach a level, you don't revert back.

ps i believe barb had no such "calendar" restrictions on earning gold (she's special;) )...will shout out to her for input to see if i recollect correctly.:thumbsup2

Thanks for clarifying, keisha. :goodvibes

We got our Gold after one stay, but our first stay was for 6 nights.

Then I don't remember going Platinum.

It would be good, I think, if they REQUIRED at least a one night stay per year to maintain your status. Can't have everyone being GOLD and PLAT and staying that way. Can you imagine the nightmare of trying to secure an upgrade then? Most hotel chains have stay requirements attached for maintaining levels. Loews seems to be one of the very few that doesn't. :confused3

 keep out the riff-raff:rolleyes1 ; we'd be dead ducks...our travel patterns run non-calendar year (2 or 3 days twice a 12 month period, sometimes they're further apart) this year we're skipping it in Oct. since a DCL cruise was cheaper:confused3 when I broke it down-who knew it was considered high season due to HRH?

seriously, i read (somewhere-old brain can't remember - d'0h) that they are sometimes ameniable to extending gold status if you can prove you're a certain level/member of another chains reward programpopcorn:: believe the peep call & whined & got gold...not sure if i read it here or on another site.

Sure would be nice to see them expand the chain thoughout the country:thumbsup2 ; while they have one in Vegas it's way off the strip.

12. LoewsFirst Gold membership requires three (3) qualifying stays or six (6) cumulative nights (associated with a qualifying stay or stays), in a single Loews Hotel or any combination of Loews Hotels, in a calendar year. LoewsFirst Platinum membership requires ten (10) qualifying stays or fifteen (15) nights (associated with a qualifying stay) in a single Loews Hotel or any combination of Loews Hotels, in a calendar year. A calendar year is defined as January 1 through December 31. Retaining membership in LoewsFirst Gold or LoewsFirst Platinum requires meeting the respective criteria for LoewsFirst Gold or LoewsFirst Platinum each calendar year. LoewsFirst members who were LoewsFirst Gold or LoewsFirst Platinum members prior to June 1, 2003 will retain that status through December 31, 2004, unless a higher status is achieved based on the above stated criteria during the calendar year 2003 or the calendar year 2004. LoewsFirst Blue members and new members will become LoewsFirst Gold or LoewsFirst Platinum members when they meet the above stated criteria. Once a Member attains a tier level, this level will remain in effect through the end of the subsequent calendar year. Post-enrollment stays recorded beginning January 1, 2004 are eligible toward tier-level qualification for the calendar year 2005. Thereafter, Members must requalify each year for the following year's membership.
