On line booking for 2009

I've been pricing up holidays for July/August 2009 but can't get some sites to give a quote. I've looked at:-

Virgin Holidays - managable price, but would like cheaper
TCD - best price so far for our dates
Thomas Cook - ridiculous price
Thomson - keep getting a message that booking service unavailable - have tried at several different times of day for several days
First Choice - won't book that far ahead - refers us to travel agent

So has anyone got an online quote from the last 2 companies and are there any other sites worth looking at?

Thomsons site is working - although sometimes it comes up with page timed out - just refresh your page and the holidays then come up - I have booked my July 09 flight with them already.

First Choice (who Thomsons now own) holidays are being quoted but only via phone at the moment.

Thanks - I've just had another look and can get flight only prices but not holidays. It looks as though they only fly on Fridays and Saturdays and I'd prefer Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. So at least I can cross another one off my list.

We looked at Airtours website yesterday they go that far ahead and they were offering great online discounts, we priced up Pop Century for Sep '09 they were very good

Have to agree with you regarding TCD, we were looking around for a good deal for a three week holiday next year and they were pretty much the best for when we wanted to go for pretty much every scenario we tried. Virgin seem to have lost touch with their prices, was really disappointed as I've always had good service from them, but to be honest, I'm willing to give TCD a go bearing in mind the saving.

Customer service from TCD was spot on and we booked straight away, rang us back when they said they would and checked loads of different scenarios, £2,800 for one week at Sheraton four points on i-drive and two weeks at Pop Century, with transfers and extra luggage allowance, well chuffed!

We're going with Thomsons on a Tues 14th July 09 from EMA for 21 nights

Holidays are coming up on the site, cant understand why u cant see them

Flights included luggage, seats together and meals (£523 each at the time of booking) which im happy with because it only means a 25 min drive from/to the airport for us, and that really matters to DH on our return journey.

Try looking on Travel Republic, Flydeals and On the Beach - they should all show Thomsons flights too and are sometimes chaeper for some reason.

I've just tried again and can get a quote for 1 room, but I'm trying for 2 rooms and it keeps coming back with an error.

If the quote for 1 room is anything to go by I need to get the TCD holiday booked soon as it is by far the best quote I've had.

Dont think you will go far wrong using TCD - they are very competitive and hard to beat- We were looking , to go from our local airport EMA which they dont do, and also wanted 21 nights and at the time i booked (about a month ago)they weren't available.

Ive decided to do a DIY holiday this time (with a little help from the guys on this forum) and have booked everything seperately, so far its worked out really well, and much cheaper - have bkd flight, 4 night Bahamas Cruise, 1 week at a villa and now just looking for best prices for a few days onsite at WDW at the beginning of our holiday and onsite at a Universal Studio hotel at the end of our hols - am really excited already...

Not sure it helps but I can confirm that Thomas Cook are quoting really high prices at the moment fpr anything Disney or flydrive. Not sure why....doing DIY this year for the first time.

I had a look at Airtours the prices did seem OK but I can't find out the cost for Platinum (or equivilent) insurance on the car hire. Can you tell me where to find the info on their website?

We don't drive so I can't say for sure , have you looked at the car hire section on the top menu bars? It could be in there somewhere if not you could try giving them a ring and say you are after a quote. They should be able to tell you

Still can't find info on web-site, but popped into TA and picked up a brochure. If I add the insurance cost from there to the on-line quote it bumps it up by £350 making it not very competitive.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I can get DH to agree to booking our trip this week - I WANT A COUNTDOWN TICKER! (did you hear me stamp my feet?)
