What a shame!! Is there no one in the wdw organization that can help make this happen?! I sure hope that this can be worked out for the family. You could post an open letter type thing here on the boards, perhaps someone would be willing to give you there adr?
I really don't want anyone to give up an ADR they would use! Really!
I have posted it on the Restaurant board and the TRADE/CANCEL July Thread. I tried to post an open request on the Dining board, but it was moved to the Cancel thread - so I am double posted over there. If someone cancels, we will hopefully be able to call quick and get it. I am watching that thread closely from my iPhone.
This issue happens a lot for Wish Families, but usually they are able to get something...but this is such major peak season and they have had very little warning. The frustrating thing on this one is that this child is actually considered terminal and her Mom had been planning her trip for October...so she had her restaurants she wanted all lined up, has spent hours on here like the rest of us uber planners, with CRT being at the top of the list.
Most Wish families either don't plan at all or do have enough time to plan to actually make ADR's.
There are actually about 150 Wish Families each week at Disney...so the wish organizations really don't have much pull...believe it or not! There are a lot of wish kids in Disney each day.
But many of them are life threatening (like Lauren) and most will hopefully have a chance to go back at some point in the next few years (provided their care goes well, etc)...very few of the wish kids I know from the DIS are considered terminal/hospice. So this is a special case IMO.
I really hope...if we are not able to get one for them in time...that they are able to fix it when they get to Disney. The CM's are very kind to wish families and if they can make it happen, they will. The family will check with the CM's when they first get to Disney and hopefully there is something open for the 3 Disney Days that they get for their wish trip.
It would be great pixie dust for this single Mom, though, and a relief to her, if we can go ahead and get it somehow before they go.
Several of the DISers are calling on her behalf, so hopefully we will get something!
And I have spent a considerable amount of time trying to "trick" the ADR system online into letting me reserve them something, too. I figure as soon as someone cancels, it should be bookable online...so I refresh that screen a lot. I hope I don't crash the site.
