(I apologize in advance if this was recently answered, but I tried the search function and it's not working for me right now.)

I've been using our Disney Visa for several years, so we have many Disney Reward dollars accumulated. I am planning a trip to DL, but am interested in staying at the DLH.

My question is this - in order to be able to use my Disney Reward dollars to pay for the room, I have to book the room directly with DL, right? I mean, I can't book a package with Costco, AAA, or even getawaytoday.com, or am I missing something? Please help me if I'm wrong, thanks! :goodvibes

I believe you would have to book directly with the hotel, or if you really want a package through the Disney Visa package deal, because in order to use your rewards, you have to have them issue reward cards (basically gift cards). Once you have the cards then you can pay the hotel directly or the package with the gift cards. I don't know that you could use Costco or anyone like that since I don't think they accept Disney gift cards, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask.

If you are paying disney, generally you can use the rewards card. I would contact either Disney Visa or the hotel you are staying at with this question.

this reminds me, i need to get my rewards card for my trip next month....:)

I have used my Disney Rewards Card in the past with AAA as a deposit for my trip.

jonsmom, you used the actual rewards card (and not the Visa card) as a deposit? I wouldn't have thought that possible, since AAA isn't affiliated with Visa, right? Please confirm, thanks!

I did call the front desk of DLH and confirmed that even if I used my Visa card to hold the room, I could use the rewards card to pay for the room.

CindyH:

Yes, I did give my DisneyRewards card to my AAA agent who booked a package for us to WDW (don't think it matters), since they offered the dining package at WDW, we really didn't plan on using alot of cash. I think one of my cards was about to expire.

I tried getting info on the rewards visa but there wasn't much specifically about the rewards on the DL site. Can anyone explain how it works? Do you accumulate points or "cash" to use toward DL? At what rate do the rewards accumulate?

If you go to the Chase website you can navigate your way to info on the Rewards Visa.

Basically you get $1 for every $100 you spend. It adds up, but interest is high so its good for purchases you can pay off every month. Once in awhile they offer my husband 5x the rewards. BUT you have to use it for dining groceries, and gas and it has to total $250 or more.

One of the Big pluses, I think, is that when you use your Disney Visa to book a package, then you have 6 months no interest to pay offf your balance.
