On DDP. What if MB doesn't work at restaurant?

I've seen many posts about MBs not working. If MB doesn't work to apply DDP credits to pay our food bill, what happens?

If we pay with Visa, will Guest Relations/front desk reimburse us?

If we refuse to pay with Visa because we aren't sure we will be reimbursed, will the bill be applied to our account & eventually our Visa anyway?

What a waste to have DDP & end up paying for meal(s) & going home with leftover DDP credits, especially when 4 of our TS meals will cost $100 each.

I think you are panicking about nothing. Sounds like there is more than one in your party. If one doesn't work I'm sure another one will.

If none of your bands work at all, you will have to:

1) Stay in the restaurant until someone can fix the problem or

2) Use an alternate method of payment, go to Guest Services and complain, and let them know you need the meal refunded because you were not able to use your dining credits. Bring receipts.

They will likely not allow you to walk out without paying for the meal, at least not until a manager has been consulted. Ask to see a manager.

I am not sure where you are seeing all these reports of magic bands not working. I don't remember seeing any reports from anyone who says that ALL of their party's bands didn't work to do anything.

You can also ask for the resort to give you a key card if you are not comfortable with the bands. Doesn't mean that will work any better.

I had a similar issue last August with the new RFID touch key to the world which work similarly to the magic band. My card did not work to purchase counter service at Starring Rolls. The CM told me she could see the credits when she swiped the card but the RFID feature did not work. I had the same problem later that day at HM when purchasing a snack for my dd. A trip to guest relations took up an hour of my time and resulted in me having to go back to my hotel to be issued new KTTW cards for my family. Our dining plan was reset to the original amount of credits and we were compensated for our time and trouble with an apology as well as other compensation. We did not ask for anything but Disney went above and beyond to make us happy. Based on my experience I am sure they will work with you if you have a problem.

Thanks for your replies. DH & I are back from our trip.

DH's MB did not work at POR & I was not with him. So the cashier input the # on the underside of the MB & that worked.

Good to know we were not expected to pay cash & lose our DDP credit.

wishtdream, sorry about your hassle. That's why we didn't take DHs band to front desk; didn't want to waste our time. Glad you got compensated! :thumbsup2
