Hi,
I just purchased Memory Manger and am having a hard time deciding how to organize my pictures. I have them sorted by month and year. Now with MM I can put names or the place etc. so that when I do a search for say "Disney" all my Disney pictures will come up.
First) I assume I would put all that info in the NAME area.
Second) Should I create another folder or sort box for Aunts & Uncles, Disney etc and add the picture to those folders so that the picture is in more than 1 folder or is just putting the info in the name line enough?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Ok-I just watched a video on Cathy Owens blog
http://bobcatshaven.blogspot.com/.
I highly recomend it for anyone new to CM's Memory Manager. My questions were just answered and I have to say, "What an AWESOME program."

Cathy,
Thank You very much for all the info on your blog. If you find a digital Disney Cd please let me know.

Personally what I did was make a new vault entirely for Disney trips, then I made new Powersort boxes for Disney, one for Family and one for the races I did at Disney.

Then in each powersort box, (for example the Disney box), I made folders for each trip.

Hope that can give you an idea on what you can do to sort them

Dont forget that you dont have to date anything. MM already does that for you. So you can have more generic boxes and still find the info.

For example, if you have a Disney power sort box then you can drop all Disney photos in it. When you want a certain trip you use the timeline on the bottom to locate the exact trip.. ie: June 08 trip you move the timeline to June 08, you would not go looking for the June 08 Disney trip in the boxes.

Let the time line work for you. It will save alot of time now and later.

Here is where I am getting totally frustrated.

Let's say I have 20 pictures all with my kids in them from a Christmas day. Some pictures have 1 kid, some 2, some have all 8 in them.
1) I have a sort box called Children. Under that sort box should I make a folder for each of the 8 kids?

2)I'll give all 20 photos a name like Christmas with the kids and that would go in the name field ( top right corner of MM)

3)The date is already there.

4)"Tell the Story" field.
Should I list the name of each child in the picture, where we were, it's Christmas and then tell a story?

We were all together this Christmas........

How are some of you doing it?

Thanks for any help

Thanks Cathie. I downloaded all the freebies and purchased a couple of others.

What I have is a folder for family and every person has a folder. When I do photos with multiple people, the photo goes into each persons folder. It is not hard to do and not very time consuming. I don't lump all my kids together.

Under the tell the story field I just tell the story. If I die, my dh knows who the people are (and they are all in their own folder).

Does this help at all?

Yes, thanks. I guess I'm going to make alot of folders. It seems easier to do it that way so that I can find things easier.
Thanks everyone.

Lol... Yes, I too have alot of folders but once I figured it out it works like a breeze. Now I am tagging embelishments in MM....
