Not sure if here or the cruise board is the best place to post, but here goes:

I am interested in planning a DCL trip for next year. I'm not sure that using our DVC points is the best value for the cruise, so I'm thinking about paying in cash. Is there a "cash-only" discount for DCL (i.e. similar to the cash-only discount on DVC rooms when not using points).

Basically, I'm wondering if DVC members pay rack rates for cruises or are there any other discounts?

Thanks!

You'll pay whatever rates are available to the general public. So your best bet is to contact a travel agency (like the DIS sponsor Dreams Unlimited) that books a lot of Disney cruises and let them know the dates you are interested in and book with them if any specials come out. You'll also have more flexibility if for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule the cruise than using points and booking through Member Services.

I asked member servicxes this question today and was told no. I used points a couple of years ago for a 3 night cruise, just 2 adults..I found it worthwhile..Next year, however, I want to bring the family, will need 2 cabins and it would be too many points. I plan on renting my points and using cash for the cruise.

Thanks for the info... now I just have to narrow down my travel dates...
