On Board Re-booking Deposit

When you re-book onboard, how do you pay the deposit? Do they add it to your stateroom account or can you use cash, credit cards or checks.

When we rebooked on-board they put our deposit on the credit card that we used while onboard. I am not sure about using cash or a check.
