on board pictures

are there really enough opportunites to have pics taken? if i remember shutters had pics everywhere? how long do they leave them up and how do you find yours? which pics would you recommend having taken?

There are many, many opportunities for pictures. Formal pictures, pictures with characters, candid shots. They group the pictures by event so that everyone's picture is mixed up with everyone else's. Sometimes it can be hard to spot yours. What I do is grab mine and start to put them together one behind the other and then choose toward the end of the cruise. I have had one cruise where they separated them back again so I had to do the "round up" all over. We take most pictures. We buy several pictures and I never know which ones will turn out. That bill is second only to the spa with us ! The only picture that we seemed to have a hard time getting were the candid shots of our son. He is autistic so he doesn't have a highly emotional face. The photographers, I'm guessing, were thinking that he wasn't having fun, wasn't smiling etc. so they weren't taking pictures of him. I got smart this last cruise and politely asked them to take a picture of him. I have the sweetest picture of him and my DH.

Besides taking photos on the ship with the characters and backrops, and the photo ops on Castaway Cay, they also are out on the beach taking pictures. On our trip last week, hubby and I stayed at the family beach rather than going to Serenity Bay. W got a great shot of us standing in the water, and there's also one of me relaxing in a hammock. They were taking lots of cute shots of kids on innertubes, building sand castles, etc.

There are more photo opps that you could possible imagine.

We just let them take the pics in the dining rooms, at the pool etc. Then we get in line for some of the others with characters, captain and ship backdrops. We go each day and pick the ones we like. We have never had any problem filling up the package (10 photos), plus a couple of the 8x10's each trip.

If you find more photos that you like..you can either trade some in..increase your package size or whatever. They are very accomodating.

Can you tell me more about this package (10 photos)? Do they create an album for you or do you buy one just for these photos? How much is the package and would it be worth it to buy it on the 4 day cruise? thanks.

We just returned from our 4 day Wonder. We bought the 15 photo package. I believe it was $120 (we had some onboard credit to use). I think the 10 pics cost $89? Anyway...we had no problem picking out 15 pictures of our family. We even tossed aside a good 5-10 pics.

ok thanks, but does the ship sell photo albums that would fit these pictures, you know, like the small albums that fit the 4x6 pictures? I'm not sure how big these pictures are, but I'm also not sure what people do with this many pictures other than put them in a special cruise album?

The photos are 6x8 or 8x10 (formal poses). I didn't look at the albums they were selling in the shops because I scrapbook and the size of the photos didn't matter to me. However, if those albums are like the ones they sell in WDW, then chances are good you won't be able to fit them unless you buy some kind of pages which have larger photo pockets.

Are there certain pictures they don't include with the pkg ? Seems like I read that they don't include the formal pictures or the ones w/ the characters. Is that right ?

So if people don't put 10 professional pics in an album, then what do they do with this many pictures? I know they are great keepsakes, but 10 of them of the same cruise? Do you really put this many around the walls of your home, isn't that a little strange? I am the first person to say how much I love DW and I have Disney stuff around my house, but I usually just frame one 5x7 picture each trip and put a bunch of 4x6's on my mantle. I don't know, that seems alot to me?

I guess it just depends. I also scrapbook, and found the Shutters pics to be a great addition to the photos we take. I feel the quality is great, and we always have a tough time deciding which to purchase and which to pitch.

On our last trip, we engaged the photographers several time on Castaway Cay. We purchased several which could have been considered duplicates. That allows one to go into the scrapbook while another can be at home or at the office. I definitely think its money well spent.

I scrapbook so the photos are a wonderful addition to the regular photos that we take. Also, there are only the two of us and it's not often we are able to get nice photos of us together, so we took advantage of having the photographers onboard.

Any formal photos, usually 8x10 in size and posed in front of a formal backdrop, are NOT included in the basic Shutters package. You have to purchase them separately.
