On Board Booking - two rooms

Last week my sister did an On Board Booking placeholder for two rooms - one for her family and one for mine. I was surprised that they let her put our families in separate rooms - I thought we would have to combine the rooms to have an adult member of her family in each of the two rooms. But we got a confirmation with her and her husband and two kids in one room and my family (me, husband and 2 kids) in another room. My question is, are these two bookings still linked together? The plan is to use them for Alaska 2019 but if for some reason her family decides not to book, we would lose our placeholder too right? I assumed so but since their names are not on the other rooms now, I wasn't sure. Another scenario... if we both booked rooms on the same cruise and then her family cancelled before the PIF date, would we have to cancel our room too?

Oh and also... for some reason Disney put my 7 year old son as the main contact for our reservation. Other than the emails being addressed to his name, does that matter at this point?

Thanks!

I'm curious to hear the replies... but I think that as long as one person from your 2 room reservation sails, you will keep the OBB credit and discount. I think if your sister cancels, it's fine... the problem would be if your sister would try to change her part of the reservation to another cruise. I don't think you can each take a room and put it on 2 different cruises (reservations). Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Yes we got a separate On Board Booking confirmation email for my family’s room. They filled out the placeholder request - 1 form for two rooms - and got two email confirmations, one for each family.

Did both rooms get the discount ? These were placeholders correct ? And do both carry on board credit ?

Yes, they are placeholders and yes they both got the discount and on board credit as far as I can tell. It's the standard confirmation email for our room - says we have to travel within two years in order to keep the benefits, says on board credit amount will vary based on length of sailing booked, etc.
