Stomach bug hit our family last Friday night, my washer and dryer went non stop the entire weekend. Sheets, blankets, pillows, comforters, matrress pads, clothes, etc etc etc.
So now that I am having to do laundry again today, it kinda hit me didn't I just do laundry.

I have front loaders and squish in as much as I can (I hang things out to dry during nice weather) Normally I do laundry every 4 -5 days so in a 8 day span I do the following loads.
Sheets - 1
Towels/washclothes - 1
Darks- 2
Lights - 2
Whites - 2
DH work clothes - 2
Oldest DS - 2 (he does his own and just throws everything in together)

So how many loads do you normally do in an average week?

My DD and I live in a apt so we need to go downstairs to the laundry room to do laundry. I do our laundry once a week and I add my parents clothes to our stuff (since they live across the hall) Between the 4 of us, we have about 4 loads of laundry each time - 1 towels, 1 whites, 1 darks, 1 "mediums" - usually my DD's clothes. Every few weeks, we do an extra load of sheets.

We are a family of three. I would say we average 4 loads per week.

Why do i seem to do ~5 loads a day with just 4 people???
so at least 35 full loads a week!

Each week I do:

1 load of "whites" - socks, underwear, dish towels, two bath towels

2 loads of "gentles" - work clothes separated by lights and darks

3-4 loads of "darks"

1 load of kids blankets (the ones they wrap up in while hanging out) plus whatever else is sitting around needing to be washed

2-3 mixed loads of sheets, blankets, misc. towels

For DD8 and I, here is what I wash each week, usually on Sat or Sun:

- 1 load of sheets

- 2 loads of towels - have to usually do a load on Wed

- 1 load of jeans

- 1 load of whites

- 1 load of delicates - sweaters and my work clothes

- 1 load of colors

So I average about 7 loads a week. Not bad but I'm in trouble if I don't start laundry Sat night. Otherwise I become lazy/too busy and, like right now, I have laundry sitting in the dryer to be folded.

right now for our family of 4 I do 2 loads per day Monday-Friday with 1 white and the other dark. On weekends I would say another 5 loads easily between sheets, bathmats, cloths and uniforms. Now when DS18 goes back to college this weekend our laundry will drop by 1/2 of these numbers. What will I do with my spare time....lol

We have 4 people and I do about 4-5 loads per week. Of those 5, I only use the dryer for my DHs dress clothes for about 20 minutes, the rest goes on a drying rack. So, I do a load about every other day or so:confused3. I'm really big on not running laundry more than we have to, so we'll wear jammies for a few nights before washing them. Towels get used all week. I have "comfy clothes" that I wear in the evenings (when I'm not going anywhere, they don't always match;)) and I'll wear them for about 4 nights. Jeans are worn 2 times, unless they actually get dirty.

We are a family of 4 and I do about:

3 loads of colored clothes...I don't separate light and dark colors.
1 load of whites
1 loads towels

2 small loads of dh work clothes...once he got a stain on his shirt and I didn't see it and he had a fit... I vowed to never wash his clothes again...10 yr later:rolleyes1

in the winter I wash sweatshirts and things in a separate load...I hate all that extra lint on the regular clothes.

in the summer, a load of swimsuits at least 2x a week

1 load of dance clothes every other week that I line dry. DD has class 4x a week so that's alot of tights

Had to come back and add that I forgot to list sheets and blankets. I would love to lie and say I did it every week but I'm a slacker who probably actually gets it done once a month...there, I said it!! I feel better now.

Family of 6, 2 dogs- I do on average 3 loads a day. 1 cold 1 warm 1 other(being whites or towels, or kitchen towels or dog blankets or sheets- I usually do towels and sheets on the same day so that's a 4 load day.) I am also a little stange and need to do Kitchen towels seperately from everything else-

I have laundry OCD

We are a family of 4 and I do wash 2 times a week. Total for the week would be:

Sheets- 1 large load (sheets gets changed every Sunday and more often if someone is sick).

Darks (hang to dry)- 2 loads
Darks (dryer)- 2 loads
Lights (hang to dry) - 2 loads
Lights (dryer) - 2 loads
whites (bleach)- 2 loads
Towels - 3 loads

* I wash comforters every couple of weeks but I take them to the laundromat because I like the huge machines. 4 comforters (3 beds & 1 misc) 2 of them go in the machine at a time but each get dried seperately.

For our family of 4 plus 2 dogs and 2 cats, I do at least 13 loads a week.
  • 1-2 loads of clothing or towels every day
  • 6-8 loads of bedding and throws on the weekend

Our washer and dryer are high capacity, too!
:laundy:

We are a family of 5, and i do TOO much laundry...lol, it feels like that is all i do sometimes :lmao:

My problem is i am too picky....i want our clothes to keep looking new, so am careful what goes together, making more laundry for myself...

I would say i average 2-4 loads a day(2 are smaller-maybe a load of red/pink shirts or 2 navy blue hoodies)...but 5 beds once a week makes 1-2 extra loads...i fight with my kids to use their towels twice and it is starting to work...yah me!!!

I have to say, my front loaders save me huge amounts of time...i dont mind doing laundry so much now!!!

I always do three to four loads a day, but I have to just to say cought up. :laundy:

My mom probably does about 2 loads a day during the winter and during the summer, about 4 during the day. I work at a state park during the summer and run year-round so I mess up alot of clothes. She does not do our exchange student's laundry so it's just my laundry when I'm home, her and my dad's laundry plus the household stuff.

Winter (one week):
Sheets: 2 loads (there is 3 twin beds, 2 queen beds and one king bed)
Towels: 2 loads at least (She does do the boy's towels)
Odds and Ends: 1 load
My clothes: 2 loads
Dad's and Mum's clothes: 2-3 loads ( depends on if he wore a robe in church or not, that's a whole load on it's own)

Summer:
Sheets: 2 loads (there is 3 twin beds, 2 queen beds and one king bed)
Towels: 2 loads at least (She does do the boy's towels)
Odds and Ends: 1 load
My clothes: 3-4 loads depends on my schifts at the park and how much i'm running
Dad's and Mum's clothes: 3 loads
Bathing suits: 1-2 loads a week at least (we live really close to Ocean City)
Beach towels: 2 loads a week at least (we live really close to Ocean City)

Good grief. never realized just how much laundry my family does haha :)

Family of 5.

I do at least 9 loads a week of clothing plus a few loads of towels and one load of bleach items. I don't do sheets as often as I should.

We are a family of 5 and I run about 10 loads a week:

2 loads sheets
2 loads dark
2 loads whites
1 load perma-press
2 loads colors
1 load towels

I run 3 or 4 loads on Monday, and the rest over the weekend. I suppose I could try to even it out throughout the week, but I hate folding laundry, so I try to get it over with all at once.

I work full-time but still manage to do 2 loads a day during the week and probably 8 loads on weekends. That's for four people and one dog. None of my work clothes are dry-clean-only so I wash them all on the delicate cycle. Sheets for three beds get washed every Monday. DD13 does micro-loads of her Aeropostale collection but at least it keeps them looking new. Fortunately, we have a high-efficiency front-loader that conserves water. Most clothes are hung up to dry. Only sheets, towels and undies go in the dryer. I wash backpacks and sneakers periodically throughout the school year and winter coats, gloves and hats about once a month. I wish I could say I was this compulsive about the rest of my housework.

I do about 2 loads every day. One white and one dark. Every other day I do 3 and that is towels since we never use a towel more than twice. Once a week I do sheets and blankets. Man, thats a lot of laundy!! I guess I never really thought about it...LOL
