On Average, How many loads of laundry do you do?

How interesting to see the different "laundry styles" I would not have imagined the diversity in how we all do the same thing.
I am shocked at how much laundry others have.
We are a family of 4 with 3 dogs and 4 cats. In addition we usually have at any given time one or two dogs that we foster.

Count us in with the we we hang up towels to dry and use more than once, we rewear jeans if not dirty. P.J's and sweatshirts worn over other shirts are also worn at least two times. They wear a school uniform and we do not get home until 5pm and do not go anywere afterwards, so I do not allow them to change into "street clothes" just to sit around the house for a few hours then get into PJ's . However they are in elementary school, might be unrealistic to keep up this rule when they get older, but then again, they will be old enough to do their own laundry then,:rotfl:

Our laundry varies, usually 6 or so loads on the weekend for general laundry and a load or two during the week for towels and something dirty that someone needs.

One child still is trying to master making it through the night (drat those deep sleeper boys) and we have given up on pullups (usually leak anyhow) so we have a load or two each week extra for the sheets and bedding.

Depending on the animals needs and the time of year we will have on average a load a week with various animal blankets.

I have a girlfriend who does twice the laundry we do, but she lets the kids change clothes several times a day and into the hamper the "slightly worn" clothes go.....no wonder she cant catch up.

Bolding mine...
This is what we do as well. We all wear PJ's a few nights, DH and I wear jeans twice, the kids usually can't since theirs get dirty. We hang up towels after use and I wash them once a week. Sheets are washed once a week. Sweatshirts and sweaters are worn more than once.

OT--My 5yo is also learning to make it dry through the night and we're finding that taking him to the bathroom around 10pm or 11pm before we go to bed keeps him dry. It's annoying because he doesn't really wake up, but it's working and it has really helped his confidence to wake up dry.

I actually have no idea how many loads a day I do. If I tried to count, I'd probably give up. :) My front loaders run pretty much every day from 8 to 8 six days a week, course when there is fifteen in the house, I guess that's not surprising. :goodvibes

I do laundry every 2-3 days, so 2x's a week or so for 4 people.

I do:
Sheets for 3 beds
Throws that we use in the living room (wash ever other week)
Towels for 2 bathrooms
DH's work clothes
Dark clothes
Light/neutral clothes
White clothes

We seem to go through so many clothes it is nuts...gym clothes, work clothes, daily clothes, PJ's...

Some of you do WAY too much laundry. Seriously it makes me sick to see how wasteful everyone is not to mention what a huge budget buster it is (detergent, clothes wearing out, electric/gas, water/sewer). I don't know...maybe all the suffering and stuff I am seeing in Haiti is making me realize how truly spoiled we as Americans really are...so I am probably just being oversensitve, but jeesh, that is a lot of laundry!

We are a family of 3 (me, DH, DS3 who is very messy) and I do 4-5 loads a week on average.

1 Dark
1 Grey/Khaki/Lights
1 DS3 wash (I find it easier to do his all together)
1-2 Sheets/Towels
1-Whites

During the winter I may do an extra load of darks since the clothes are bigger/more bulky in the winter. And obviously, if we have a stomach bug or something goes through the house, more laundry is done.

We don't wash our pants every day unless they get dirty. Especially DH's work khakis, he can get two days out of them (he sits at a desk all day). I don't wash all my sweaters/tops after every wear. I usually wear a shirt/cami under them that gets washed every use. I usually only wear jeans a few hours at a shot, so I get more than one use. Towels get hung to dry and changed out/washed once a week. PJ's get used for a week (we go to bed clean, so they shouldn't get dirty). I just can't imagine why anyone would want to do so much laundry! I grew up in a family of five with all 3 kids very active in sports (sweaty clothes/uniforms) and my dad had a factory job with sweaty work clothes. My mom did a load a day plus an extra for dad's work clothes on the weekend. Nowhere near the 2-3 loads a day some of you are doing! That's just crazy!

I agree, however I will say that I do 1 more load of laundry in the winter than in the summer. In the winter, as I stated in a PP, I do about 6 loads of laundry for the week for DD8 and I. DD8 only wears jeans, and I wear jeans on the weekend. They dis-color colored clothing too much to wash with them plus there are too many of them so I separate them into a single load. In the summer we are wearing shorts majority of the time (of course unless I'm at work) and most of those are khaki short so they can be washed with lights or colors.

I think this is pretty judgmental and not knowing anyone's specific circumstances you have no idea whether someone is being wasteful or not.

I don't feel very spoiled when I'm surrounding by pee laundry every morning. Sorry but I can't quite picture anyone feeling spoiled by that! ;)
(and it's is WAY cheaper to wash linens than buy pull ups for a child who is too 'old' to wet the bed)
