I called MS today to renew my AP's and get the dvc discount. She asked when they expire (9-9) and if I had an upcoming trip. We arrive 9-30. I was told to buy the AP's when I get there because the vouchers may not arrive in time. She said I have a 30 day grace period to renew them so I will still get the discount.
Anyone ever heard of this? I really don't want to get there and find out that I can't renew.

Yes, there is a 30 day grace period to renew your AP. Your "anniversary" date doesn't change however.

In these days of computers you don't need the voucher, just the voucher number and photo ID. We did this last year. We renewed by phone and was given the voucher number. When we got to Disney we went to guest relations at the park and picked up the AP.

Sure you can renew by phone or computer, but I'd just wait until you get there. There has always been a 30 day period to pay the renewal, but as stated, your anniversary date does not change. It is still retroactive to the 9th.
