I have been reading that if you double book they will cancel both ADR's. People have also been stating that they aren't getting everything they want but are booking their second and third choices. Most peoples responses to this is keep checking every day because your first choice may open back up.

Here is my question, lets say it does open up, you find this out by looking on-line, can you book this on-line and then cancel what you originally booked or will they cancel each other out and you find you are left with neither?

I'm so sorry if this is confusing but it would be very easy to check throughout the day on-line and if an opening comes up just book it. I'm afraid though I would lose both because I would be double booked until I could cancel the original ADR.

I think they need to offer a course on how to successfully book ADR's at Disney.

If you find a better time or location on line, you can go ahead and book it, get that confirmation number, then go back in and cancel the original reservation- if you can't figure out how to cancel an ADR on line, just pick up the phone and call the dining line. It's totally normal to do this (I wouldn't cancel my original until I got a confirmation # on the new ADR!) and no one is going to cancel your "double booking" that existed for 5 minutes while you cancelled out the original.

One more note: if they are within the same hour or so, then you will receive a prompt telling you to cancel one of them (this happened to me when I was playing with time). I agree with the pp: add the new one (or hold it) and then call.

The prompt only comes if you are making 2 ADRs at the same online visist. If you book dinner for the 1st at 6:00 and later that day, tomorrow, or a week later book something else near that time, you will not get a notice. I think it is later that the cm can notice a double booking and cancel.
