So I'm on a waitlist to get a studio at NYE time at SSR for my DIL's to surprise them (we're already going), and according to MS there are none available, but according to disneyworld.com, they have them available!!!

Why is it that anyone could just pay cash for this, but us, DVC members, can't book it!?!?!?! This is a rant/serious question if there's an answer for it. TIA.

They aren't the same inventory. The rooms available through CRO have already been used for points. They are points inventory that has been exchanged either for the Disney Collection or cruises. Since the points have already been used, they are not available for point stays any longer, and CRO must now rent them out to get back the value they exchanged to some DVC member who used his points to stay either at a Disney hotel or on a cruise.

For what it's worth, one of my daughters has successfully waitlisted for an SSR studio for NYE the last two years. And she didn't even start until about September.

Be as patient as you can, and call occasionally to "check" on your waitlist. There have been numerous reports of waitlists magically being fulfilled when checking.

And I thought I was the only one that felt this happens. I drive myself crazy feeling i need to call to "check" on my waitlist but i have in the past gotten that feeling.

You can also check the member website to see if your reservation has been made using your points. Why waste the phonecall when you can just log onto the computer?

Because there is a good bit of anecdotal evidence that phone calls work!

Well I checked the member sight Sunday (which was the day my waitlist expired) and without ANY phone calls after setting it up I cleared!

Yep, that's the only way I've ever cleared the waitlist.:confused3

Good for you though, Carol.

Oh trust me...the website is always up at work (and home on the weekend) and i refresh every few minutes... I'm addicted... :badpc:

Thanks for all of your help everyone.

If we don't get it by Sept. 30th this year, we have to drop the waitlist b/c that's our last day we can bank our 2008 points. Keep your fingers crossed for us! :)

If you do bank you cna leave a message that should the waitlist come through then to borrow from the following UY for the NY dates.

Claire ;)

Great idea! I would have never thought of that! :)

I called members services yesterday because I didn't see my "waitlist" on the website. I was told that they do not put any waitlist on the website but I would see my current reservation changed over if my room becomes available.

I've called repeated times for various vacations and never had the waitlist filled. I have received letters in the mail confirming that my waitlist came through (prior to DVC's website being so user friendly). I think that it may be a fluke that you happen to call and it's fulfilled.
