Someone mentioned here that on a Thursday morning, summertime,
for a flight from LAX with a rental car, should leave GCH by
7:30??????? Allow 4 hours??? That seems like alot of time, but better to be safe than sorry!!!!!!!!!!!

Any comments? 4 hrs before scheduled flighttime from GCH to LAX weekday morning??????????Wow!Doesn't look like we'll have a "leisurely breakfast" that morning!:sad1::sad1::sad1:

Much thanks!:goodvibes

Yeah unfortunately I would have to say I agree with leaving that early. You gotta understand traffic to L.A. and i'll give you a ratio

In California there are so many cars on the road that its 7 cars to one person. No one ever seems to car pool and so even though its like a 45 minute drive to L.A on a good day, it can be over a 2 hour drive each way because of traffic.

Going back to LAX during rush hour traffic on a weekday I would definitely say leave early. It also takes a bit of time to get through security and everything else at the air port.

So give yourself some time.

Yes, definitely.

Figuring you need to be at the airport 2 hours in advance, you need time to return your rental car and get on the shuttle back to the airport, and you have to pad your driving time b/c you're leaving right in the middle of rush hour...yeah.

I'll allow 4 hrs before flight time........

Can't wait! First trip California!:banana::banana::banana:

In California the number of miles is never used to predict how long a ride can take it's always based upon going from point a to point b - it's very strange to get used to that. I commute from Portland to LA and then drive 55 miles North; in the middle of the night I can do the trip in 55 minutes, all other times it takes at least 2 if not 2 1/2 hours. Defintely give yourself the time.

Same in WA, and everything I've said it to thinks it's strange and they've never heard of it before! Hmm.
