I distinctly remember the scene from the book Ramona Quimby, Age 8 when Ramona and her sister Beezus discover that the "bumpy" beef they are eating is actually tongue. This book was written in the 70's and I've always assumed it wasn't uncommon to have that although my household never ate it.

Nope but my mom tried it! They went to Europe and spent the night in a castle in germany. They went to dinner at a small restaurant where no one spoke english.She saw a big platter go by w/veggies and what she thought was a sausage and ordered that. It turns out she got tongue! Yuk!

OMG! Talk about major flash back. My Dad tried to get us to eat this when I was 10. I am 41 and still remember it like it was yesterday YUCK

My dh loves toungue!! He's mexican so it's a given. He likes to make taco's with it. Begs me to make it but I won't. He can go to his mom's house to eat it and tripas too. YUCK!!!

Ewww. No.

One of my college roommates grew up on a farm. I remember coming home from classes one afternoon, and there was some big hunk of nasty unidentified crap boiling on the stove. So, I asked Dawn what in the heck it was and she informed me that it was a cow's tongue and that it is "good". Yeah, right! You can keep your cow's tongue darling, I'll stick with a burger and beer.
