I was wondering if anyone has stayed at this hotel yet? A friend of ours used some connections and got us a free stay there along with free Universal tix for next summer. I'd rather stay onsite, but hey, free is free. I've done a google search and have checked out every bit of information there is online, but I'd love to hear someone's first hand account of a stay there. TIA!

I don't think it has opened yet or very recently opened. I live right down the road from there and there hasn't been much activity yet.

I'm pretty sure it has opened already. Thanks for your reply. I'm just so anxious to find out anything I can about this resort!

I can tell you it is in a beautiful location. I am sure you will get a great view from any of the rooms. It is about 15 mins to MK, a short drive away.

I have not been to that Omni hotel but we have stayed at many others. They are wonderful resorts. I suggest that you go to the Omni Webpage and sign up for their Select Guest program (its free) When you check it you get these cards to fill out and put on your door each night. In the morning they will deliver coffee and tea or juice right to your door for free at the time you select. Hope that it helps you out. Enjoy your stay you lucky duck!

The Omni resort opened on Sunday October 10. I went there for lunch on the following Wednesday and they said that there was already 50% occupancy. By the following Weekend, they would have 80% occupancy.

If you can stay there, FOR FREE, do it! I mean DO IT! It is a BEAUTIFUL place. Brand new and all marble and granite.

If you get a south (EDIT: It is East, sorry.) facing room (towards to front) within the top 4 floors, you can look out and see my apartment.

It is definitely worth a try and the location is great. Be sure to wave, I'll be looking.

I forgot to mention, if you get a room facing to back side, you will overlook the pool, lazy river, and the National golf course. It is really a nice view. In the evening, the sun sets on that side of the building and it is really nice.

Don't know about the hotel, but the Championship Gate area is nice and fancy. I somehow ended up there one day last October upon leaving WDW. To this day, I have no idea how I got there! All I know is I saw a sign for I4, and I knew I could take it back to 192 :). I HATE getting lost, and I was not a happy camper that day. I'm sure my sis was ready for some alone time after that car ride back to Orange Lake :teeth: .

Yup. One exit, or 3 miles West of the "last" Disney exit. Champions Gate is one of the easiest places to turn around!

For now anyway. I have seen the development plan. I can't see them putting in everything that they want to without making it look like a dressed up 192.

But I digress. :)

I agree. That is a lot of houses that they plan to build. I like it the way it is now.

Thanks for all the information all. DH will soon meet with our friend and find out what type of accommodations we have. Can't wait!

It isn't the houses that I am worried about. it is the:

5 "Limited Service Hotels"
4 "Fast Food Restuarants"
3 'Restaurants"
2 "Sit Down Restaurants"
2 to 3 Banks
2 "Auto Service"
1 Drug Store
1 7-11
1 "Full Service Hotel" (besides the Omni)
1 Child Care.

That is ALL going in between the I4 exit/entrace, and Masters Boulevard, where the Omni driveway is.

Back to topic:

dtuleya I am sure you will not be disappointed with the Omni. It really is a nice place. Although I have not been in a guest room.

Ted

That will make it very crowded. They could stand some businesses but not that many. There are plenty of those businesses close by.

I also won't enjoy the traffic. :(

I just found DH and I will be at the new Omni in Februry he has a business convention. I did some searching on the website, there isn't much on it yet but it looks beautiful and the pool area looks fun. I signed up for the guest program already it was quick and easy.

I will post if I find any more information - hopefully someone will have stayed in the resort before February.

Hoping to find out about the transportation to the Disney parks as DH will be in meetings the first 2-3 days. I have no problem doing the parks alone but we usually stay on Disney property so this will be new for me. Guess I will budget some cab fare.

But I wasn't on I-4! That's what was so freaky!. I think we were leaving Epcot cause it was late and dark. We were trying to get back to Osceola Parkway to take the Sherbeth Rd shortcut (we were staying at Orange Lake) and never got on I4. Soemhow, we ended up in front of the big Championsgate Sign that straddles the road. We had been on that road earlier in the week going to my sister's in Okeechobee, so I knew that road ran into I4, so we turned around and headed to the interstate.

Spooky!!!

tjmw2727 - I suggest giving them a call at (407) 390-6664. I saw a shuttle bus when I was there, but I was not sure if it was going to the golf course or other attractions.

Straitlover - You either went on 192 to 545 to 532. OR 192 to 27 to CR50 (Ronald Reagan Parkway) to 532. I think back then, CR50 was still closed after 532, so it would have forced you to go through CG.

There are two other ways into CG, but I don't think you took those. :)

Thanks I will call, probably closer to the trip. I hope that in the 3-4 months between now and then things will be up and running, including the website. Hopefully I can just get to the TTC via the shuttle and use Disney transportation within the parks.

Meantime I will be watching for posts from those who have visited the new Omni.

I am bumping this up to give information on the Omni guest rewards club. I signed up for free on the website as we now have two trips planned at Omni's (dh's company is using them evidently). We received our cards today along with a complimentary upgrade certificate and a 50% off weekend stay certificate. I am hoping to use the upgrade certificate during our February stay.

So if your considering a stay why not join - IMHO always a good idea to join the rewards program of any resort you stay at.
