Kaylee lost a tooth today but she swallowed before she realized it came out.

She was beside herself so I told her we could write a letter to the tooth fairy explaining what happened. I typed it, she told me what to say, this is what she wrote....

Dear Tooth Fairy,

My tooth fell out today BUT I think I swallowed it.

I’m sorry that I don’t have it but will you take this letter from my mom as proof that I lost it?

Love,
Kaylee

PS Thank you for this!

That's just too cute...I'm sure the Tooth fairy will take the letter instead.

My DS has swallowed 3 of the 8 teeth he has lost!! Tell her to rest assured, the Tooth Fairy will accept a note in lieu of a tooth!...........P

Cute! Tell her it'll work like a charm!

Your post brought back memories of a very similar situation with my oldest DD who is now 14. I picked her up at daycare the day she lost her first tooth. I took one look at her and noticed "the gap". I excitedly commented about her missing tooth and she burst into tears! Had not realized she'd even lost the tooth and was put into a frantic panic trying to search for it! Somehow I managed to convince her that the tooth fairy would accept a heartfelt letter as an alternative...

Now tomorrow she is going to her 8th grade semi-formal. Time flies by so fast... yet we still reminisce about that first lost tooth! :wave2:

I kinda don't think the tooth fairy would want the tooth if it were... "recovered." ;)

That is so sweet. You gotta love them when their little, because they become teenagers and make life a living hell! :rotfl:

yes lets just say that the tooth fairy is quite appeased with the "note from mom"

My DS 9 lost a tooth a week ago and went to rinse his mouth again he forgot he was holding it and down the drain it went. He was mortified! I tried not to laugh but it was difficult. We decided to write a letter to the tooth fairy and it sure is a keeper for blackmail. Bless his heart, he sure did like the disney dollars though.

This has happened to my DD three times. Each time she has drawn a picture of a tooth and cut it out, and this was always acceptable to the tooth fairy. It was really funny the day she made a drawing and put it under the pillow she saw nothing, came in real upset and said the tooth fairy didin't find her tooth picture. I got nervous and asked when did you lose your tooth? She said she didn't, just wanted some money! :teeth:

When my DS was little he lost one of his finger nails when it got slammed in a door. He thought the 'Finger Nail Fairy' would pay him a visit that night. (She did.)

I think the tooth fairy should tell her that she can't have the money until she poops out the tooth and recovers it.

Just kidding, Binny :)

How cute is that?!?! The poor thing must have been so worried!!! Aren't those tooth fairies great for being so flexible in what kind of proof they accept? :earboy2:

As a Dentist, I always tell my children( and their freinds) that Mommy knows the tooth fairy (ESMERELDA!!!). Therefore, I have her very special cell phone (ie FAIRY PHONE) and can contact her at any time. In fact she once forgot a tooth for us but we were at WDW!!! Any way, if you need me to contact her, just let me know! Sincerely,
DR MILLER

My son's letter went like this.

Dear tooth fairy,

I lost a tooth but I swallowed it. It was all my dad's fault.

Thank you,

:rotfl:

You could leave her a note from the tooth fairy:

Dear Kaylee,

I understand that you swallowed your tooth. In fact, you were smiling in your sleep and I could see that you lost it! Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your ....

Love,
The Tooth Fairy

I tried to fool the tooth fairy as a child, too. I balled up a piece of tissue very small and shaped it like a tooth. I figured she wouldn't know the difference, since it was dark in my room. I made the mistake of telling my parents how proud I was of my plan.

The next morning, with happy anticipation, I reached under my pillow and pulled out a LUMP OF COAL! I was horrified and totally embarassed.

I bet the tooth fairy really enjoyed that one.

I think if the tooth can be recovered it should be worth more money. After all that tooth would have went on a spectacular journey through miles of intestine with a finale of taking a big splash in the toilet where it would be seperated from it's new found friend Mr. Poop. :teeth: That tooth deserves more money and you have to retrieve it. You can't flush that poor tooth down the toilet. It's just not the right thing to do. That tooth has been with your child for many years now. Now go get that tooth before it gets away. :)
