:sad1: I've just started reading a book that my husband's aunt has just published called Sometimes God Says NO. It's about the struggle that she and her husband had for 14 years caring for 5 children,4 of whom were hydrocephalic and died. The title is from her praying that God would save her children. It's killing my heart. I can't read more than a little bit at a time. Can you imagine what that pain must be like? I can't. Oh well,I had to share.

She must be a strong woman. She had her share of life tests, that for sure.
Good luck reading....

wow, that story sounds so familiar, was she on that TLC baby show?? I forget the name...but its the one where they portray the families before the delivery and then show them having the baby. Was that her and her husband?

No,she was never on tv. She and Uncle Jimmy are 77 years old. Auntie wrote the book 20 years ago but just recently self published. There's an upcoming book signing tour but I'm sure it's only in Louisiana.
I read the book tonight and it was powerful. She was very honest about both of them questioning their faith at certain times. It was very interesting that she decided to use artificial BC when she thought it went against the Vatican. She found out later than exceptions were made in extraordinary circumstances.
They both decided that seeing 4 of their children suffer with hydrocephalus and all the accompanying surgeries was enough. They couldn't chance bringing another child into the world to suffer.

Where did you find this book ? I did a search on amazon and couldn't find it . I would be interested in this. I did a book search and still can't seem to come across it, could you direct me in the right direction ?

It was just published.I can find out if it will be widely available. If it won't be,I'll gladly send you a copy.

I ahve used that line when people who know I am Catholic tell me that they are not religious because they prayed for something and God didn't answer. I always say "Yes He did. He said no".

It's so hard to get the notion out of people's head that God is just waiting up in Heaven for us to ask for something so he can wave His magic wand and make it happen because "we" want it.

Your aunt and uncle sound liek brave people. I hope God has given them peace.

He has. It's amazing to me to see their peace. Their faith is what kept them going. I try to fathom how in the world you can go through losing a child. Then, you get pregnant and realize when you hold your baby for the first time that the fontanel is not indented and your nightmare is beginning again.

Saw mention of it in the local paper's online edition. I couldn't fathom the heartbreak.

Sent you a pm.
