OMG Will I regret this . . .

Oh boy, I guess I am really doomed! You guys crack me up :lmao:! What a great support group! I was at a meeting tonight and a friend of my asked me what my motivation is for pushing myself to make more money, and I said "I NEED more DVC points!:lmao::lmao: He looked at my like I was crazy, he's not a huge Disney fan :scared1: I know, I was shocked too that someone might not share my obsession. I'm so happy I have you all to share my DVC thoughts with, my friends just don't get it :confused3. Now I have to break the news to my DH, wish me luck!

We were doomed from the start since we started with a 2 bdrm. I was apparently a slow learner too since our first two stays were through CRO (Disney Institute & OKW) and very pricey. I kept thinking we wouldn't get out to WDW very often.

We finally bit the bullet in 2005 and we've only stayed in a studio once at WDW.

I could be in big trouble... We'll be in a 1 bdrm at OKW for 8 nights in Oct for the first time. (DDs timeshare deal). Followed by a night at ASmusic. I certainly hope the shock won't be to much!;)

I am hoping this happens.
Our DVC history is, we bought enough points for a week in a studio once a year. We didn't end up going the first year (had a baby) so I banked the first year's points. So, I have been using a little each year to get us a 1br. Well, they have now run out so we are back to doing studios.

1st trip BWV Studio
2nd trip OKW 2 BR (took family who had bought/ transferred points in)
3rd trip SSR 1BR (got sucked in from the last trip)
4th trip VWL 1BR
5th trip will be in a STUDIO.

Now for my plan....
I am hoping our 5th trip will convince my DH that we need more points in time for our next trip so we don't have to stay in a studio again.

I want to do a 75 point add on at either BLT or AKV.

While we enjoy the space and luxury of a 1 br, when there's only 2 of us we are fine with the studio. It seems like a waste as we never use the jacuzzi or the kitchen. If you plan to cook a lot or have 4 people, you will LOVE the 1 br. We rent the larger villas when we bring family.

I agree! When I go on vacation, I'm not going to cook that's for sure. The washer and dryer are nice especially now since it costs so much to check bags (except on SWA). We aren't in our room much so when it's just the two of us, a studio works fine. It has a small fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee pot - that's all I ever need when at Disney!

We are a family of four (2 adults and a 6yo and 4yo) and if staying on points we typically do a 1 bedroom. The studio just seems too small. We stayed a few nights on cash at the Poly in January and loved the resort but defintely missed the space of the 1 bedroom. We actually have stayed in a 2 bedroom before and I am sure once my kids get older we will be staying in the 2 bedroom- no one will want the pull out!

I just have to share one of my "must have 1br" deciding factors...disclaimer, I am a mother of 2 sons and a husband, all of whom are huge (DH is 6'8 DS11 is 5'7, and DS8 is 5'5).

We all LOVE LOVE LOVE the water parks, pools, splash areas, you name it, we're WET!

There is absolutely NOTHING better than coming in from an all day outing at the pool, and popping an XXL pizza in the oven, ready in 10 mins! NO running to the "sub par" snack bar to pay a fortune for mediocre food that is cold by the time you get back to the room. Just the smell of delicious pizza while you're getting showered, clean and dry. Then sitting down at the table eating while watching the sights at Disney. It's awesome!

If we stay in a studio or a room at POP or POR we always stay there our first night or two nights, then we move to a 2 bedroom. Our arrival day is usually one where we arrive around noon so we have lunch and go to Downtown Disney check in and do dinner maybe see Illuminations and head back to our room. Our first full day is usually a park day from morning to night and back to room to sleep in, so we don't mind the small quarters.
I don't think I would like to change at the end of the trip. When we get to a 2 bedroom we relax more and enjoy the resort.
This Jan we will be in a studio for the first two nights at OKW and then into a 2 bedroom at VWL. In Oct. DH and I will be in a studio at AKV. Have never stayed here so we are looking forward to it.

I'm in an even worse predicament...I've got a dedicated 2 Bedroom at AKV for Feb (that's 3 bathrooms!!)

There's no question a 1 bedroom is nicer but it depends on your points situation. I just booked Wilderness Lodge for some relatives this coming February. A one bedroom was 158 points versus two studios that were 152 points (76 points each). Yup, they can get two studios which means a total of 2 beds, 2 sleeper sofas and 2 bathrooms for less than they could get a single 1 bedroom with 1 bed, 1sleeper and 1 bathroom. Now granted they are missing out on the full kitchen, jacuzzi, and in room washer, and they might not get their request to be near each other but the extra sleeping space was important to them. Don't get me wrong. I love the 1 bedrooms but now that they are more than double the points of a studio at WLV it makes you think twice at that location. You could vacation twice in a studio for the points it would take to vacation once in a 1 Bedroom. For some it will be worth it. For others, more vacations or more beds will be the better option.
