I was SO excited yesterday morning to see my scale at 313, from 350... thats 37 pounds since 1/6/04. Well, yesterday being VERY stressful, the girls mom was served with divorce/custody papers and went nuts I was so worked up that I drove into Taco Bell and binged on a combo #6 (2 beef chalupas, a taco and a large diet pepsi). All the rest of the day however I ate my normal atkins diet, finished the night off with a bowl of Carb Freedom Ice Cream. Well this morning I'm up 2.5 lbs.... OMG. I am a scale addict you can say and have NEVER gone up this much overnight. If anything sometimes .5 lbs but that is ussually down by mid morning. In fact I'm even to the point of after breakfast/lunch I still weight the same. So what happened, could that meal really have packed on 2.5 lbs?!?! And if so looks like there is NO WAY I will be cheating on cruise... yikes, 8 days of 2.5lbs gains... I'll be more than when I started Atkins (and in trouble as all my clothes are now 20/22's and I was wearing a 28 in Jan). Someone tell me this is temp, yikes... I've only been loosing at a rate of around 3lbs a week... urgh I fight for every .5 I loose. Sorry for ranting, just upset this morning that I let myself cheat. I promised not until the cruise, but maybe this is a wake up call.

i can't speak for Atkins

but I can speak for cheating ;)

it' ok -- it's over -- history. you are human and you made a poor choice, we ALL do! focus on how you felt after eating off plan, did you feel sluggish and tired and then regretful. Try to remember that when temptations hit, b/c they will hit. This is a lifestyle and one you need to choose that you can LIVE with

as for yesterday -- what about yesterday? EXACTLY!!!!!

when I indulge the scale goes up and then after about 2-3 days it's back where it should be -- for me it's usually a matter of excessive salt. I would imagine that may play a part from a Taco Bell meal

maybe you've been too strict with your food intake? Can you find some Atkins-friendly meals or treats to satisfy your craving?

next time you feel stressed, come here instead. You don't get the brick-in-my-tummy feeling afterward:teeth:

Just wanted to say, don't be too hard on yourself and enjoy your cruise. If you take the stairs not the lifts and potter about the decks, you can be quite active whilst on board and there are healthy choices to eat. The fruit at Scoops is yummy; I used to eat loads and noticed a tip on the Cruise board tpo take extra and keep it in the room cooler for later in the day (the fruit station closes at 5pm) which I'm going to do when we cruise in October.

Remember, you can order what you like but you don't have to eat all of everything. Do what makes you feel most comfortable in yourself. You have been making good choices for a while now and these will be almost second nature by now.

And remember, you are on holiday. ENJOY!

Take a deep breath and try to relax, OK? This is just another bump in the road.

I would bet $20 in cash that this is water weight brought on by the extra salt and extra carbs. Drink your water today and eat on plan and it will disappear in a day or two.

You will NOT gain 2.5 pounds every day on the cruise. You may pick up an extra 2 - 3 pounds of water weight during the whole cruise but stay active and drink, drink, drink that water and you'll be just fine.

Hang in there - this is truly only temporary. :sunny:

Can only speak for myself and let me tell ya, I have posted many threads as to WHY WHY WHY the scale is doign this or that!

It is very frustrating, Just last week, I did so good for 4 days then I screwed up..I gained everything back! Cheating stinks..........lol
I think that perhaps you'll come to understand exactly how your body works real soon!
As far as the scale, i have tried to put t he darn thing away and I gave up! However, I do weigh myself every morning and at no other time

I have to say though 2angels, You did a great job not having that typical attitude " well, I screwed up already may as well do it the rest of the day".
Its that very attitude that gets me every time!
DOn;t be too hard on yourself, you are doing a great job!

I want to echo what Doe said. It's water weight. Also stress keeps you from losing. So relax and drink your water. I have gained and lost that much over night due to water weight. It happens every TOM for a lot of us. Like I said before, one or two no-no's each night of the cruise won't hurt as long as you eat right the rest of the time and get a bit of exercise by taking the stairs.
So just relax! You'll be just fine.:D

It's gone, yahoo! After cleaning up the house and mopping all 1,600 sq. feet of this place I got on the scale and had lost all 2.5lbs plus an additional .5lbs... whew. :D Thanks everyone for the support I was starting to freak out... I get so excited when I wake up and am down more so when I gained I was like Oh No!

You banished the bloat fairy already? WOO HOO!!!!
