Well got to the bottom of not being able to book our seats on Virgin.

It is because our connecting flight times have changed.

15 mins difference.

And our tickets have not been issued, another reason to add it.

We have took turns to argue with the call taker.

The result is that we are unable to book our seats, and have to wait til the checking in.

We argued that the bochure states we can book our seats 336 days in advance, and when do you issue tickets this far in advance.

There is no 3 seats together as everyone else can book.

To be honest I havnt heard too many good things about Virgin lately, am glad I havnt gone with them (altough I am on the 'they can be as bad as each other' fence when choosing travel agents)

My collegue booked her wedding with Virgin in about Oct '05 for May '06 - last week it turns out she cant get married in the hotel she chose in the Bahama's as Virgin never signed contracts with them despite having them in their brochure!

:sunny:

Tickets are only issued about threes week from departure no matter who you book through, unless an e-ticket. I cannot see why a connecting flight would alter the main flight details for pre booking seats.
I would ring again and just ask for the locator number and see if they give it to you.

Claire ;)

I got a different number to check.

Still does not work, and yet they can book using the phone, but want to seperate us, 2 adults and 1 child.

Managed to book kids meal.

DH took over the phone call as i was getting very frustrated, as the call taker was very rude. At one point i had to say " will you let me finish what i want to say please"

So a coment has been made on our booking to make sure we sit together.

Will pop in and see our travel agent, they may be able to contact headoffice in the uk.

I realise how frustrating this must be for you, but I wouldn't be too upset at this stage.

Virgin set aside only a percentage (50%?) of seats for pre-requesting; the rest are allocated at check-in. Try to arrive at check-in early I'm sure you'll stand a good chance of being seated together, especially as you have a child with you.

In our family's experience, the pre-requesting system is a bit of a lottery anyway! ;)

It's reassuring to have as much 'sorted' before you leave for your trip, but try not to let this spoil your pre-trip excitement.

They have allocated 60% already, and due to our connecting flights we land at Gatwick 2 hours 45 mins before Orlando flight, so unable to check in early.

The most annoying part was the call taker not letting us speak, kept interupting before we had finished our question.

But never mind it will get sorted.

Hi PJ:wave:

Hope you get sorted, this is so frustrating when this happens. That's why we opted to drive down to LGW and staying the night before in a hotel.

Good Luck

Wish we could change to that but our flights were only £10 return each, we can not complain at that.

Plus we live in Gateshead so looking at a good 5 hour drive.

Never mind

You could try checking in on line as soon as the online window opens, 24 hours prior to flying. Then when you get to Gatwick you can go to the bag drop (if your bags aren't interlined) and drop your bags (you need to pick up printed boarding passes at the bag drop).

The online check in should allow you to select your seats and being 24 hours out there should still be plenty of choice. It will also prevent you from having to join the end of the massive queue of people wanting the check in on the day.

Hi PJ, did you book direct with Virgin. Our travel agent sorted out our seats for us, which was just shortly before we went. Also if the call taker was that bad what about e-mailing Virgins customer services - perhaps they could help - or am I living in cloud cuckoo land. Whatever happens don't get too stressed.

Ring Virgin Atlantic up direct yourself, give them the details they need to find your booking and ask for the lcoator reference, then this will give you access to the online manage my flights section. VA reservations number is 0870 380 2007.

We were wanting the £10 connecting flights but there were none left for the date we are going....

We are in Newcastle so yep we have a 5 hour drive :crazy2: and we are travelling down on DD's birthday so she is not very happy at the thought of a 5 hours in the car :bitelip:

We travelled on DD birthday in dec, 9 hour flight but the thought of seeing mickey made a lot easier plus she is 4 and did not really understand the birthday thing yet

Recieved email from Virgin, which states you have to hav 4 or less flights! to able to view online! :(

So my return email stated that we ONLY HAVE 4 Flights.

With the return of "WE HAVE LOOKED INTO YOUR BOOKING, AND YOUR DOMESTIC FLIGHT TIMES HAVE CHANGED SO YOUR BOOKING SHOWS 6 FLIGHTS." :(

so we must be flying at 650am and then again at 715am, then 1115.
