It's really is important not to share your "RL" information within VMK.

I think VMK is not all that comfortable with "real life" because of money issues. Disney is a big company with pockets about yay deep, and if some kid were actually harmed because he or she gave private information to some bad person out in "rl," that would be not only be the end of VMK, but it would also be quite a lawsuit (and I know Disney does not lose many of those, but often their winning streak remains unbroken due to the forfeit of settlements). So, before you start to lament a little initial thing like "rl," keep in mind that they are a company protecting their assets.

That being said, I am kind of pleased that another abbreviation is going away. I may be in a strict minority here, but I think abbreviations are destroying the language. Yeah, I said it. If you ever see me using abbreviations on VMK (other than VMK, since it is the official name of the game), I am probably being facetious at best. I am a big fan of the internet, but I see it causing literacy and communication problems in the not too distant future thanks to the paradox of overuse of abbreviations and net slang and "emoticons" (what a dreadful term) to communicate ideas for which we used to use full sentences.

I am curious though. In a previous discussion of vulgarity, you didn't see it as a degradation of the English language or our ability to communicate effectively but internet abbreviations are? I am not being facetious or antagonistic here, I really am interested in your response.
