My 12 year old and I just went to IOA a few hours ago- we could not take the heat. We went to Hard Rock for lunch, walked out and into IOA (we have annual passes, and went a few days ago, which wasn't too bad) but this was crazy!! How do the little kiddies and the older folks stand it? I was drinking as much water as possible, and no relief. We left after one ride (the Seuss carosel). We may go back later today, if it drops even 10 degrees... :confused3

This is the hottest June I can remember and I was raised here!

Agree. This is a very HOT June for the Orlando. This week, heat indexes have been in the mid 100s-110. It's only June for Pete's sake!!:cool1:

Send some of that heat up North - we could use it in Michigan, although today is actually nice, and now that I think of it, it's going to be 80 this week, so I guess it's on its way.

We're going to Universal at the end of July this year - we usually do Spring Break- and I've been wondering how the kids will do, and more so my husband. It just never gets that hot up here, and if it gets too warm, we just jump in the lake. Well, keeping my fingers crossed for cool weather July 22nd

The past couple of weeks have been unusual for Florida heat. I work outside here and been drinking tons of water and Gatorade. I don't mind the heat when I'm at the park since I'm not working and can get ac by going in one of the stores or go back to the resort to swim. :thumbsup2

We got home on the 16th..LOVED IT!

I knew I was getting closer to Pennsylvania when I saw the clouds in the sky and it was 30 degrees colder

I'd just like to see some sun, I don't even care about the temperature at this point...it's been raining and cloudy since we've gotten home!!

Weather.com has a high of 100 tomorrow,WOW!!That's gotta mean a heat index of 115 or so.I think the only park I could handle on a day that hot would be a waterpark, I would grab a tube and hit the lazy river all day.

Thats intense heat and we will be flying in tomorrow so it looks like we will be taking in a movie and hanging out at the hotel :thumbsup2

I live in Cocoa, Florida and the heat was just so hot. I work back in electronics at Target in Titusville and it was just awful even inside. I'm going to USF/IOA in early August which I hope I get lucky and catch a nice 80degree day! :) I lived in New Mexico for a few years but man was today a scorcher!! LOL!

I bet Barges, Ripsaw Falls, and Jurassic Park got a lot of riders today!

We were at the parks last week and it was so hot! The odd thing was that the parks were really quiet in the mornings and the crowds picked up a lot late in the morning. We usually left around 1 or 1:30 and the people were still coming in. I don't see how they could stand it!

When I go alone, I go early and leave by 1pm too...I can't stand much more in the summer.

From what I have heard, it's been raining a lot at home (Boston) and one of the Red Sox games was even called due to rain, which allowed the Marlins to win :(

Today was much better (heat wise) and we go home tomorrow night- I will welcome any temp. below 85 degrees!!!

we just literally had the last of the snow melt about a month ago (it was an unusually long winter)...it still isn't seasonal temps yet, and now we are in the middle of a drought. However, we have been averaging around 70-80 degrees. I don't know how we are going to make it through 100 degree when we are there next week. That is very warm, even for this girl who LOVES the heat. We will be early risers to beat the heat, and then pool in the afternoon.

Ugh!!
We have July 12-13 set aside for US/IOA. I'm wondering if I should hold off on buying my tickets until just before? If it's unbearably hot we won't want to be there.

BTW...the heat index here in Illinois is supposed to 105 today! :scared:

you must be from southern illinois.
i was down there for 10 days taking care of my parents and things around their house.

yup, it was a scorcher there on friday........

up here in northern illinois where i am now, it's only in the 70's.....

think of the bright side....
if you are in the high heat area of illinois, you will be very prepared for orlando this summer!!

When we were there last week, it was in the mid to high 90s everyday, the last day I got very sick from the heat, we left the parks early around 1:30 that day and I just stayed in the room and didn't eat anything the rest of the day, I was too sick.

In WV we usually have temps in the mid to high 80s and pretty high humidity, but the temps and humidity at FL is very hard to get used to, we got to the parks around 9:00am and stayed until 3 or 4 in the afternoon, it was tough but we drank lots of free ice water (a little tip I learned from this board! :thumbsup2) and on Wednesday and Thursday we got cooled off on the water rides, we were DRENCHED, we rode the both water rides twice, but even though we looked like wet dogs, we felt so much better.

We'll be there 2nd week of july and we've been in Orlando in july before. Get in early and move fast while it's still relatively cool. With decent planning you can be through the major rides before lunchtime then you can relax and not be stuck in a long line. When it gets really hot remember that Terminator 3D's lines in US and Spiderman in IOA are all indoors where it's air conditioned. Save that for when you can't take it any more.
