Omg, shocked and disgusted.

Oh my goodness :scared1:! My family all work in mental health, running their own care service and regularly have to give medications such as this - the truth is her son should be taken to A&E or at any rate NHS Direct should be called and notified, it is truly terrible for a mother to give their child sleeping tablets - he could have an adverse reaction, or even if he was alright he could get up for the loo or something in the night and fall if he was groggy and confused - scary fact but this is how children can die. And I'm sorry but I really don't think an 8 yr old should weigh 8 stone , at 8 I was overweight as I had been on steroids but even then I weighed under 5 stone, I'm 25 and 8 stone is my ideal weight, can't imagine what kind of pressure that is putting on a child's heart.

Disgusting. She needs her head tested.:sad2:

OMG I actually cant believe that anyone would do that and then brag about it to a friend !!!
I just have no words to describe how shocked i am :scared1:

Just had a look at Zolpidem in the BNF and it is definitely not recommended for children. It's worth mentioning to your friend to keep an eye on her son as there are a lot of side effects (as I am sure you are aware) and 10mg is a large dose for a child - the recommended dose for the elderly is only 5mg.

I hope he is ok :)

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: How stupid!!! :sad2:

Hope he is ok.

What made me even more sick was when she said if he gets up during the night she will hear him, I told her how will she if shes zonked out after taking one? She then laughed.

I also agree that a 8 year old shouldn't weigh 8 stone either. I don't see her often as she doesnt live near me so i have no idea what she is feeding him.

Going to look into reporting her to SS, not sure how to go about it though.
