I've had all of my most important reservations since the 90 day mark - I just found out that one person who was supposed to come down for a couple of days can no longer make it - and she was going to be at the most important places. 'Ohanas Dinner, 'Ohanas Breakfast, Akershus Breakfast (which is cc hold). I've read here that you can show up and just say you're one short, but I'm still nervous. Has anyone been turned away?? And what happens with the Akershus that is a credit card hold? Will they charge the penalty for the extra person if we show up without her? We would be going from 5 to 4 people.

When did Akershus become a credit card hold? They didn't take mine and I'll be there in a month.

I can't actually answer your question, that will be my first visit but I'm curious.

If I were you, I would try to see if you can get another ressie for around the same time for just the 4 of you (I would just look on the online reservations to see if anything was available). If nothing is available, I would just show up without your "5th" person (you can just say that they weren't feeling well or something like that) - they should be fine with it. Although, I would definitely look into the credit card ressie - usually they have a cancellation window. You probably will be charged for that 5th person for not showing up. I would call dining and see what they say - maybe they can just cancel the 1 person for you without rebooking another table.

BTW - I live in River Edge!!! :goodvibes

This happened to us on our last trip with 2 of our 6 people being unable to attend a few of our dining ressies. We simply told them at check in that we were a party of 4 rather than 6 and did not have any problems. I would call and check on Akershus though. They may be able to help you without making a new ressie. Otherwise it depends on how bad you want to eat there. You could check but I think that it is only a $10 charge for that person not showing up and it might be worth it to not lose your ressie.

I have the opposite problem! My friend/neighbour now has her nephew coming making our group 7.

I booked everything at the 90 day mark and was up early (2:40am) for a few days booking them (14 nights)all.

I'm praying that we don't get turned away. I have 'Ohana dinner, Askershus breakfast, 50's Prime Time Cafe and Crystal Palace dinners that I can't get even another table for 2 on the same date. I was able to fix a few ADR's and get a table for all 7.

I know last year I didn't have any trouble when I showed up without my neighbours because they decided not to go. We (niece and I) might have waited a little longer for a table but were seated. I hope you and I have the same luck that I had last year.

I booked it last weekend for our early September trip and it was a credit card hold.

I have to change my profile. I moved to Mahwah a couple of years ago. I miss Oradell.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to call them this morning, but I'm just going to ask first before I give them my confirmation #. I'm nervous they'll cancel the entire ressie - which I've heard quite a few times on ths board.

I can't say for the credit card hold ( the fact that they say 24 hour cancellation leads me to believe you should probably try and cancel that one person ). BUT for all other restaurants, it's totally fine. We had a person drop out of our HUGE group last year and that person was in ALL our dinner ADRs, and all the restaurants said it was fine.
