eek... got into work early this morning... talking to my boss about the cold and she said something about bad weather on her holiday (she went to Mexico.. yeah, *then* ) and i sadi something back about hopeing it warmed up before i go to DLP... and she was telling me about when she went... how great it was... la la la

about 4pm... she says to the whole team.. "Has anyone got any time booked off before the end of the year?"... erm.... so i was like.. yeah, i'm going to Disneyland... and she kinda flipped out... i thought she was gonna tell me i couldn't go! ARGH!

i booked the time off (only four days - i'll still have 5.5 left after that!) about a month ago.. and she OKed it....

was scared she was gonna make me stay.... :earseek:

i'm still not sure i'm outta the woods on this one... think i'll just hide from her for 3 weeks... lol...

A similar thing happened to me last year when I asked DS's Head mistress for permission to take him out of school for 4 days. She OK'd it in writing..... then sent me another letter saying the school would not allow it. In the end she had no choice but to admit she made a mistake and she stood waving goodbye to us at the school gate on the day before we left!! lol. But I can't describe how I felt when I got that 2nd letter saying he couldn't have the time off...... OMG !! Anyways, Good luck hiding!!

well... they gave me the time off... and i've booked and paid for the holiday.. if they make me cancel surely they'd have to compensate me?!?! plus... if i cancelled it'd mean i've only taken 12 days off all year... we get 22 holiday-days... and i've been off sick ONCE all year... it's not like i mess them around!

I think your manager is well out of order, as a manager myself as far as I am concerned once a holiday is authorised it is set in stone unless the person themselves choose to cancel! Is there a HR department, or someone above your boss you could speak to?

oh.. she's not gonna cancel... well.. i'd like to see her try... think she's just annoyed i'm having a holiday at all...

she tends to ok things, then forgot she ever talked about it.. then you have to explain a few more times.. and get made to feel like you're doing something wrong...

As I have learned in the past bosses only hear what they want to hear. My boss just finished me on Friday (18th) and me and family are going to DLP on Monday :cool1: wont spoil my holiday though. Good luck though with your boss. Paul

So sorry to hear that Paul, but glad that you aren't going to let it spoil your holiday. :)

Paul, sorry about your bad news but you sound like you have the right attitude :)

Don't let it spoil your holiday..... enjoy your time with your family at DLP. Things always work themselves out. Good luck from me. XXXj :goodvibes

Paul, I am so sorry to hear your news - I hope the holiday is everything you've been looking forward to and more :goodvibes .

Thanks to each of one of you, ;) I know that this is going to be the best holiday that we have probably had, :cheer2: the excitement is kicking in now. I keep telling our son who is 7, that we are counting the hours now, not days, we are also going with my in-laws (Beverley's mam, dad and sister) who we always have a really good laugh with, which you might think is unusual for someone to get on with their in-laws so much. :rotfl2: .Just waiting for tomorrow now (Monday) 3 o clock flight from Newcastle. :moped: Straight to Disney village for a McDonalds. .
Paul

Have a wonderful holiday Paul & Bev and forget all about any problems - they'll keep till you get back!!! Just enjoy the Disney magic!!!! :Pinkbounc

Paul and Beverley, have a fantastic time, Disney is absolutely the place to forget your problems, for a few days at least! You'll have a great time!

I hope you have a great holiday and don't think too much about the job situaton. :wizard:

I agree, any problems will keep until you get back. Just have a really magical time, can't wait to hear all about it!

Feel for you Becks!

I had a boss like that once - a bit too fond of :drinking: - so if you wanted leave agreed had to get your sheet signed to prove he'd agreed it!

Mind you, we learned to work this to our advantage - get it signed in the afternoon while he was "mellow" :rotfl:
