Omg! It's blt!! (at last)

we are thinking of buying 160 pts at blt to join the dvc. we are new to thinking of joining the club and we have a lot of reservations about joining. i like reading the posts that say it is worth it to stay there and that it surpasses your expectation. i stayed at akl last year and i thought it was amazing but pretty expensive.

like most folks, I will post my exact room number as soon as we get back home. either wednesday night or thursday morning. now another sound bite. (and btw, excuse the lack of caps and such. i am off to the studios, my fave park, shortly to celebrate a Significant Birthday) and i'm in kind of a hurry. Heck. I am turning 60 today. I was on a real downer about this, until i took dh to see ac/dc this summer at foxboro stadium outside boston. angus and malcolm young are still rocking like they were 20, and they are 54 and 56! and dh and i went down crushin' gusher 6 times in a row. not bad for old folks. but enough about me. in the interest of fairness, since i have been gushin' (pun intended) about BLT, no place is perfect. If I were on a lower floor, the lack of sheers would make me crazy. up this high (floor 12) and mostly facing the lake, not an issue. but something that needs to be changed. will mention at checkout, and also if we get a survey. i am short. the counters in front of the mirrors are deep. not easy for putting on makeup, especially if you are nearsighted! so i am doing the same thing i do at boardwalk, kneeling on the bench in the bedroom so i can stick my face next to the mirror hanging above it. i also wish there was a mirror with shelf in the foyer, as at boardwalk, but there is some nifty artwork there instead. typical disney motion sensor thermostat. meh. BUT some handy disboarders have posted how to override. printed that out and brought it with me, and we are now happy campers. if i were cooking, (which i have, sadly, done in the past on vacation) the kitchen is not as well equipped as the one at boardwalk in the way of cooking tools. no measuring cups. Anyway, gotta go, TTFN, and more later.:cake::stitch::eeyore:

Happy Birthday!

Rock on! 60 is the new 40! I totally agree on the sheers. I was lucky too and did not need them, but the inner rooms that face the pool would really benefit from them.

Happy Birthday! :flower3:

Thanks for taking the time to post while on vacation! We have 4 nights at BLT in November and you are getting me even more excited! Thanks.

Happy Birthday. NO better place to celebrate. I celebrated 41 there in March and we bought into BLT.. Can't wait VWL and BLT at Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS I love NH hope to do some hiking soon!:flower3:

another quick sound bite. and another pun, since this one is about noise. mostly. we have had some interesting experiences with noise, and the lack thereof! first, the lack. I don't know if there are fewer families with small children staying here, but I have heard NO early morning or late night "excitement" in the hallways. I noticed this fairly quickly, as the opposite is always true at Boardwalk, our usual "home" up til now. There is some really cool noise from the MK - we can hear the train chuffing and tooting. also not so great - you can hear some of the equipment early in the morning, and if you are a very early morning, first cuppa coffee balcony sitter like me, it might be bothersome. Also, DH slept later than I did yesterday. He was awakened by the jacuzzi draining in the unit above us! apparently the folks above us decided to take a really early morning tub, and he could hear it through the pipes. and he's not a light sleeper. on a more positive note, however, and still to do with water (in a way) the fridges in the 1BR have VERY efficient icemakers. and i love my icy water. now i am going swimming in the pool, speaking of water! still to come - Top of the World.

Happy Birthday. One quick question when you made your reservation did you make any request or did you just go by the map when you got there. We will be staying there in 29 days. TYIA

After months of anticipation, we checked in yesterday. Have to go to breakfast with DH, but will post later. All I can say is this place does not live up to my expectations. IT SURPASSES THEM!!! The view. The Shower. The View. The Bed. The View. And the Top of the World is the best of all. Except the VIEW from my window. I can almost lean out and kiss Space Mountain. DH is making bets on how long before we call our guide. More later. DH needs coffee.:stitch::eeyore:

Have to laugh about the shower, my kids called it the "needle shower"-I loved it. We stayed for 3 night studio standard 4th floor had mk view, loved the resort.

Thanks for the bday greetings. I studied the map fairly frequently for updates, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted before checkin. I took a printout of the map with me, slapped that puppy down on the counter, and went back and forth (in a good-natured way, of course!) with the CM until she found something that I wanted. As I have said previously, every CM in the general vicinity came over to look at work2plays chart. They were all amazed! Thank you again, work2play:worship:! Another note about that chart - I was talking to Rich, the Restaurant Guest Service Manager at the Contemporary, about the Disboards, the chart, and the questions list that Tara had put together some months back for upcoming guests. He was amazed as well at the level of interest and anticipation many of us have had. I passed my printouts off to him, since I had used them already. Work2play, you amazed Disney management as well!! you definitely rock.

I was going to do a post on Top of the World here, but I think I will start a separate thread. Hopefully more folks will read it.

Home to realityland. Sigh. Got back last night.

As promised, our exact room number was 8210. 1 bedroom, magic kingdom to the left, bay lake to the right. loved it!

My only other comment is on what we did our last full day. DH loves segways, so my birthday treat for him was booking the segway tour at Fort Wilderness. We caught the early boat from the Contemporary dock (first one leaves at 6:45, and sunrise was beautiful!) had breakfast at the Trail's End, and then caught a bus over to the Bike Barn for the tour. We enjoyed it more than the World Showcase one, which we had done three years earlier. Our guides were really funny - sort of like a landlocked Jungle Cruise on Segways. We did some offroading, which was a blast. One of our guides said that about 70% of their participants are DVC! Guess a lot of us like that discount. Anyway, it was terrific. Can't wait to be back at BLT at Halloween!

Thanks for all the reports! We check in Sunday and are SO excited! I never thought about printing out the map but definitely will now. I was afraid the CMs might be offended by us getting picky. ;)

May I ask what time you checked in and, when you were going back and forth on rooms, were they all available when you checked in?

We arrived between 12-12:30. It only took two tries to find what I had in mind, and it was ready!:woohoo: So I can't in all fairness assess the probability, since we didn't go through a lot of choices. The check-in CM was very happy to help, and as I previously mentioned, thought the chart was really something. Enjoy your stay!
