Haha! When I heard John make the comment on the podcast about the show 'Til Debt do us Part, I had to laugh.

Yes, there is another person out there that pauses the DVR when they show the line items so I can gawk at their expenditures. That show is such a guilty pleasure for me.

Does anyone else watch it?

Never heard of the show.

I do know one couple that came close to divorce when their ideas about allowable debt did not match.

It's funny how couples merge finances.

My DH was a saver when we got married, and I was the spender. After the first year of marriage, we had a brand new house and tons of new furniture...and $30K in debt, plus a mortgage, plus 2 car loans. Then I discovered Dave Ramsey and he now considers ME to be the bigger saver than he is.

Sometimes one spouse does have a positive influence on the other without even realizing it. Ten years later, we know where every dollar in our house is going.

But yes, money fights/problems are one of the top reasons for divorce in our country.

I see this over and over in my practice. I'm also a DR fan, and try to pass the info on to my clients, but I don't have any idea if any of them have ever gotten it.

I also love "Til Debt Do Us Part" but am totally amazed at the amount of money some of the couples are able to spend--I've seen several that are over their budget by more than I make in a month.
