OK, so I have had our WDW trip planned for the end of September for months now, ever since they first announced the Free Dining. So I was pretty sure that a trip to DL was no where in the near future. Well, last night as we were sitting at the computer we both heard the DING! I have always kept the DING as kind of a hope against hope that one day we would get a REALLY good deal on a flight to California and then we could afford to go to DL. Last night we got flights for $89.00 each way, but even with that good of a deal I didn't think anything of it because, well, we were already schedule to go to WDW in September, and the flight to DL had to be before September 1st. So I went and got us dinner from Subway and come back to find out that my husband has booked the flights, hotel, and bought our DL tickets for the 16th of September!! I am going to Disney Land!!! and to top it off, we get home for a week and then leave again to go to WDW!! My DS5 is so excited and I am bouncing off the walls!!

Now where to start? I know absolutely zilch about DisneyLand. Any tips, advice, cool websites I should check out? What about characters, are there any COOL characters I can find there that I can't find at WDW? We are arriving on Saturday morning at 11:00 and will be leaving Monday Evening. So we have a half day Saturday, a full day Sunday, and another half day on Monday. Ok, I'm off to do more searching!! :cheer2:

You are very lucky!! Your son will be in Disney overdrive!!

I don't have as much advice as most of these other people do, but we are going the end of Sept.

I have recently found out that there is a Lilo and Stitch breakfast. I don't know about your son, but my ds LOVES Stitch, so we are definately doing that. The Disneyland web site is good for park times, and ride height restrictions. And of course, the experts on this website are amazing!!

Congrats and have fun!! :Pinkbounc

We did this two years ago. We were taking a long awaited, planned trip to WDW and got an email from United about airfare specials from Denver to Los Angeles for travel around that same time. So we went to WDW for 10 days the end of October, came home for a week and then went to Disneyland for a long weekend. It was a good few weeks!

I would suggest just hanging out on this board for lots of good tips. Be aware that park hopping at Disneyland can be done multiple times on the same day since the two parks are just steps from each other. And the fastpass machines at Disneyland are not connected to the ones at DCA. So you can have fastpasses for rides at each park at the same time which is very nice. I agree with another poster that the Lilo and Stitch breakfast is a lot of fun, Goofy's at the Disneyland Hotel is also a very good character meal and serves throughout the day (I think they close from about 2-5 in the afternoon but serve the rest of the time which is nice). Lunch at the Blue Bayou which is inside the Pirates ride might be nice, but its pricey. And speaking of Pirates, don't miss that, its so much longer and better than WDW's version.

Make sure you see the Aladdin show, its by far the best live show I have seen at either WDW or DL. Thats at DCA and does not run each day of the week, so check your park schedule or go to www.disneyland.com to see hours, parade and show times.

Read this very detailed link, it will give you a TON of info:

Have a great trip to Disneyland, thank goodness for Dings!

Aren't you a lucky girl! How awesome is your husband??? Have a great time! Maybe one day I'll get to WDW!

Wow tickets for $89 each way, we are half a country closer and its $400??? go figure, by the way, 2 hrs by plane and we are there, just a tough area to get out of!

I believe it will be dark during that time. I think its closing for about 3 or 4 weeks next month

My big tips for DL:

Get to the parks early, before opening.

If they offer early entry during your stay, use it! I know the EE schedule is going to be a bit off the weekend you are there because of the marathon.

Spend the morning in DL, then go to DCA for the afternoon, then back to DL in the evening. They are much closer together then what you are used to at WDW. Dont wait to do your shopping until evening time, the stores will be packed!
