We recently returned from a wonderful stay in a 2 bedroom at OKW. It was the first time we took another family with us, using our points. We certainly ran into Disney magic, went on many rides and attractions, had good food and drinks, and had super weather (tropical storm and all). Anyhow, our flight to MCO was late afternoon on a Friday. We figured instead of using all of those points for a Friday, we would stay at All Star that first night. While our room was clean, check in was fine, I quickly realized how wonderful the DVC resorts are.

Maybe I was just really, really excited to get to OKW......or maybe I have just become a snob.... :guilty:

+1

We often do the economy resort for the first night as well, and it is amazing how quickly we have gotten spoiled to the DVC experience. If you step back and really think about it, the All Star, or even the Pop Century, are quite a bargain and definitely worth the bargain price, but how I miss the Resort. (plus having to move after the first day; but it's a point thing)

Now that we've been in DVC for 2 years, I don't think I could even go back to a moderate, let alone a value. Our first trip was to ASmov, the second to CBR. Now the last 4 have been DVC. There is no going back. For us anyway.

Even worse we can no longer stay in the All Stars, we're paying cash with a DVC discountFri & Sat night to stay in the DVC since it's cheaper then using points and not m uch more then rack rate in a a All Star suite.

We often stay at POP the first night, as we drive down and allow an extra day in case of road problems/car trouble. We don't book at OKW that first night just in case we don't make it, we don't want to waste the points. While we like POP OK, and the food court has some very nice offerings, it is no OKW!!! But POP is comfortable for a night or two.

I think I've always been a resort snob, I just didn't know it until I stayed at DVC!

In other words I thought offsite was great until I experienced something different.

Here's to discovering your inner snob--with many happy returns :cloud9:

I am going to WDW in Dec. for a conference. I have to stay at CSR because IRS will not allow companies to reimburse employees for point usage. (could you imagine how many points and trips you could have if your company could pay you for it!!!!!!) Anyway, I almost dred not having a washer and dryer in the room and all the extra space for my to boys to run around in.

Even worse, now I have to stay in a 1 bedroom, even if there are only 2 of us!

Been there.

Done that.

NOT goin' back!

We tried "stayin' cheap" a couple of times. For us, the aggravation of moving luggage alone is reason enough to spend a couple hundred (if that) let alone the difference in accommodations.

To each his/her own. It's just not for us.

I wear my "snob" badge with pride thank you very much.

There are only 2 of us and we just get studios. I'm dreading the first time we get a 1bdr. We'll probably never go back to a studio

We have never stayed in a studio for the 4 of us, now we've moved to a two bedroom for the 4 of us.... It's a sickness. LOL

I feel so much better now knowing I am not the only "snob" out here! ;)

Oh yeah, snob here too. We did values one year and hubby said for a cheap one night stay before DVC - MAYBE. He would rather do moderate. So I guess it hit both of us.

You are deffinatly not alone DVC has spoiled a lot of people. We live in PA and go to Ocean City MD and Mrytle Beach lot, The hotels used to be fine but now we have to rent a beach front condo. Going to visit my son in Boston this summer and we're having trouble finding a "nice hotel" There is a reallW nice place in the concierges collection but it's a lot of points, or $3-400. a night cash. we may just have to slum it and stay at an ordinary hotel. :guilty:

We are staying-DH has no idea, it is his Christmas present-1/1 to 1/5 and I don't want to use extra points for the 6th and the 7th so am thinking of 2 rooms at either AS or POFQ and am terrified...yes I am a resort snob, lol!

Count us in with the snobs as well. My DH now compares every hotel we stay in to OKW. He has certainly been spoiled.

Being a resort snob doesn't seem so expensive when using points, but it can hit the old pocketbook hard when going elsewhere on vacation. Count us among those who only stay in villas or condos now. It just doesn't feel like a relaxing vacation to be in a hotel room, even a really nice hotel room. We never minded until DVC.

We should start a support group. . . oh I guess that's what this board is for! This sickness has affected the whole family at our house. We made the mistake of going from 5 nights at OKW to 2 nights at POFQ because we wanted to extend our trip last summer and we didn't want to use any more points. Big Mistake! I think we would do it in reverse but never DVC to value/moderate again! My DDs were less than impressed with the pool/amenities at POFQ (even though it's really a lovely resort). And the disease goes on . . . Their future DHs have big shoes to fill! :rotfl:

I have an 18 year old boy, nice, clean, polite, loves Disney. Starting college in the fall to be a teacher. Needs wife that understands DVC and how points work. :rotfl2: :lmao:
