OMG! I got THE call!!!

And just as well! If they did, I'd book the cat 4 next to it, sneak in when it's not occupied, and play Samantha Brown!

Wish that they did. I love the in-laws but would rather not share a room. Oh well two floors away is close enough.

Yes, you are correct. We will be on the Magic over Turkey day to celebrate Catherine's 13th birthday so I am going to have to ask any Disers on that cruise who are aware of my surprise to please keep a secret.

ohhhhhhhh...........ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..........this'll cost ya ;)

Pin?? Didn't know you were a pin collector. I am one of the founding members of the Central Jersey Disney Pin Traders - cjdpt.com. As a matter of fact I design the website and I am an avid DCL pin collector. I have many of the Artist Choice pins including the first three which are the hardest to get. So maybe the drink of the day would be a better option for me since I am kind of attached to my pins. ;)

My family also enjoyed the Dismeet with DrCavin and others. We had a great time--wonderful cabin! I am sure your family is going to love it!

We are also sailing on the 8/19/06 cruise and would love to attend another Dismeet in the infamous Walt or Roy Suites! I am we could fit 200+ inside!

What a wonderful surprise! We are also on that cruise and I am not beyond bribery to get a peek inside.... :rolleyes1

I also agree the freind with the conciege hook up is the way to go. But would they suspect something's up when you get off on deck 8?

Roy suite, cruising with 218 other DISers and a double dip at Castaway Cay.... good times.

When I went on my first DCL cruise in 2002 at the request of my wife I don't think she knew what she was getting into. I had never been on a cruise so I tried a 3 day cruise after being married in WDW. Well as they say the rest is history, I am a DCL fanatic and have spent many hours on this forum as well as researching the history of both the Magic and Wonder.

On the other side of the coin my wife and step-daughter don't care to research something like I do so deck 8 doesn't mean a thing to them. If I told them that DCL gave us an upgrade from a Cat 6 (which is what I originally booked) to a Cat 4 they wouldn't know what the difference is or what deck the new room was on so taking them to deck 8 instead of deck 6 is not even a concern. I think my biggest concern is having a DCL cast member treating us differently before we get on the ship. I would prefer to go through the usually process as if we had a Cat 6 room.

I still have some work to do to see if I can actually pull this off.

Ahhhh I understand. I am married to one of those. :rotfl:
Maybe you can contact the staff and let them in on the surprise. Maybe they have some ideas. Or can at least play along with the friend idea.

Dont forget to change your travel insurance....

It is pretty obvious, the location of the concierge check-in....and then the CM leads you to the sitting area in the terminal. If you're going to try to make it a surprise, you'll want to check in at the Castaway Club desk. But it sure is nice to start to enjoy that special treatment from the start!
Also, you'll want to attend the Concierge Meet & Greet upon embarkation...hard to explain to the family where you're going.....kinda takes too long to say it's a potty break! I think I'd go with the "upgraded to a suite..as in, Cat 3".....
You will SO LOVE how special your whole family will feel and be treated! Your pretty girls really will be princesses!
We were in the Roy for the Mexican Riviera....I actually prefer over the Walt. I think the wood is a much richer color...and the piano just takes up space. We also much prefer Starboard side. You will love it!
I have tons of pics, if you want to see them, PM me with your e-mail.

If you bought travel insurace for you Cat 6 (either thru Disney or an outside company) that is the dollar amount your claim would be based on.... not the new and imporved price of the Roy suite. It happened to a freind of mine (different cruiseline years ago) She originally book a low class, and then about a month or two out upgraded her family.... didnt upgrade the insurance and, of course, something prevented them from cruising.... her claim could only be for the cabin she bought it for, not the upgraded price.

I have never looked for the concierge area where is it in relation to the CC check in?

I am assuming you have to tell someone you are in one of the suites. Is the suite or concierge information mention within you cruise documents?

We usually check in, go onboard, have the embarkatation photo taken, then go to Parrot Cay for lunch. When does the concierge meet & greet take place?

Thanks for the information. You can email me at: jeff@langdononline.com. If anyone else wants to help explain what I can expect off line or on line it would be appreciated. Photos would be great!

I agree about the piano in Walt's suite; it would be just one more thing my little Stitch (Sarah) could get into.

Got it. Thanks. I will make sure I take care of that.

The Roy suite is roomier without the piano.

The area to wait is near the windows--small couches, right by where you board. Your room key will be a different color to indicate concierge guest.

The meeting with the concierge is usually around 1. They have cookies and some sort of beverage. You can sign up for excursions, kid's club, and spa if you would like. Some people have received information prior to cruise, but we never did.

You will have unlimited soda and water in your room. The suite is wonderful--enjoy it!! We have to wait til June 24 of 06!!!

The room key being a different color is no big deal since those cards change all the time. As long as it doesn't say suite or concierge guest on the card I am okay. My wife does like keeping the cards and reading the restaurant rotation which is printed on the card.

We usually board early 10:30 - 11:00 so we could get an early bite at Parrott Cay and then I could make up some lame excuse as to why I want to go to some "orientation". Perhaps I could say it is about upcoming cruises or cruise information. Missy knows if I have the opportunity to learn more about DCL I will be there in a heartbeat. She is real good about tolerating my DCL addiction.

It would be fun to see their faces when they are sitting around with other concierge guests when they figure out that they are one of them.

BTW...where is the meet and greet held?

The have the concierge meeting in Sessions.

I like your plan, going to lunch...and making an excuse to leave...but as far as boarding, are you then not going to board with the concierge group? DCL will board the people needing assistance and the concierge first.

Your docs won't have anything on them relating to your room location, and we have not ever gotten a call from DCL's concierge ahead of the cruise, either. Although I do have a contact name & number, if you want to make any arrangements ahead of time...shore excursions, request for a certain dining rotation.....
You can still tell the family that you're in a suite, the Cat 3...and board with concierge, unless you want to try to keep the Cat 6 secret all along.

I probably don't have too many different pics from those that you can see on DCL's site...but I can send pics of the bathroom (they don't show it) and the pantry....I got a kick out of the pantry. There's an extra refridgerator in there, which we put sodas in, and we stored our luggage in there.
DCL says that the room sleeps 7, but it actually sleeps 8, and possibly more...I meant to check to see if the couch folds out....
The one thing it is lacking, is drawer space in the master....and there's only one clock in the whole room. Take a travel alarm clock to put in the bedroom. I had to keep moving Disney's clock, from the bedroom to the living room everyday. LOL
Forgot you asked this....the concierge check-in windows are the very first two windows in the check row, as you come up the escalator.
