OMG!!!!!!! HUGE FP+ Family Vent!!!

I'm not sure if I read everything carefully, but can't you go to MDE and change your times to what is convenient for you?

So, this isn't really a FP+ issue then, right? :confused3
This is an idiot SIL who didn't think to talk to you about changing things issue, right? :confused3

Just trying to understand the purpose of this vent.

Cause its no different then setting up dinner reservations at a restaurant and one person changing the reservations without talking to everyone else involved. It's not the restaurants problem, it is yours and your eating companions.

Sorry you are dealing with this though and it confirms once again why I don't travel with large groups of people. :rotfl:

Thankfully our neighbors are just "coming along for the ride" in April. They check out what I booked cause they have never been there and said "obviously you guys know more than us so we are just following along". This trip is totally for them so I tried to book the hard to get to things and when there we told them you let us know what you want to do and we will lead u there! lol

I booked all our ADR's too for dinner only, but again gave them menu's from all ears to pick what they wanted to eat at. We didn't want to push our places on them even though we limited their choices based on our experienced over the past 15 years.

So all in all they don't change anything but we tried to leave it as open as possible for them till we get there.

OP, I am sorry that your meet & greets are all messed up. I would be upset too! Those of us who work so hard planning our WDW trips, understand.:grouphug:

TC :cool1:

Like pp said, she has every right to change her and her own family's FP+ only. She should never have touched anyone else's! I would give her a call or send her an email saying that if she doesn't want to do what you chose, that's perfectly ok but do not play with yours! Good luck on your vacation!

That is horrible. I am so sorry! This story gave me a little heart palpitation just thinking about it and it's not even my schedule!

Yeah it was just a family related vent. The OP did clarify at least once (maybe twice) that it was not a slam on the system or the app but just that she needed to vent her frustrations. :)

I would have freaked. I'm an OCD planner and scrutinize the tiniest of details, never mind having someone move the FP+ times around!

Since I've not used the system yet, I'm unsure if there is a way to set permissions in MDX that would allow linked family & friends to view your reservations but not give them authority to change them. Is this possible or does linking to another's MDX account automatically give them clearance to change your ressies?

I am the Disney planning freak in the family, so when I linked my account to my sisters, I gave her very strict instructions to not touch ANYTHING. I think I told her at least 5 times. If what happened to you happened to me, I would seriously lose it. Thankfully she is very happy to let someone else plan her vacation.

I'm not sure because it was my own paranoia about this very situation that has prompted me to refuse the requests of various friends we are meeting over the course of our trip to add them to my account. If you want to manage reservations for guests not on your room reservation, you do have to invite them and have them accept the invitation to join and that, as far as I understand, gives them the ability to change their things within the account. I don't know of a way around this, but I'm not leaving it to chance.

ETA: I only know about the invite etc from experience because Disney IT had to send me an invite from myself on my own account and I had to accept it because some glitch removed me (even though it is my account!) and added me as a child so I had no permissions to make any reservations or changes and added an extra daughter along with the one I really have, lol. It's been a bit of a mess from the get-go so I only do what I have to on there and try not to touch it otherwise.

You can prevent someone from changing your FP+.

Open MDE, go to My family and friends, find the guest you want and click on EDIT. Select or deselect the following:

Invite to Plan and Share
This friend can add activities to My Plans and can also:
View only our shared activities.
View all my activities.

If you have Memory Maker, you can also select or deselect the box allowing them to see your pictures.

Click done.

You'll have to do that to all guests you want to give or take the right to mess with your FP+ selections.

Awesome! Thanks! That's exactly what I needed. I guess I never thought about it, but since you are only able to change dining reservations if you made them, it would only make sense that there was a way around FP+ times being deleted or moved, too. I will be doing this now. Lesson learned! Thanks again!

Big WDW traveler here! I've been to the World over 30 times, but this is my first time with MDE/FP+. After an initial mini panic about having to choose FP rides 60 days out (maybe I don't, but I feel like I do to get what we want) and not always knowing which park we want to commit to each day, I'm really liking the new system. I'm a huge planner, and I used to sit with a spread sheet and try to plan the best attack. Now, the system lets me do it "officially" and I kind of like it.

Anyway, we are a family of 6 traveling with our 4 little kids in May. MIL, FIL, SIL, and SIL's BF decided they would like to come with us. So, I put everyone in MDE and linked our accounts, etc. Then, I sat down with my little spread sheet (OCD, much?) and planned my FP+ around our meal times, nap times, estimated meltdown times, parade times, fireworks times, etc. I did it right at 60 days out. I was so pleased with my plan I could burst!

Now, today, I just looked at my itinerary. SIL MOVED my FP+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could scream! I noticed because I had selected 9:35-10:35am at KS on our AK day. I like to do the safari in the morning to see the animals the best. I noticed it was at 1:45pm now. I knew I didn't schedule it then because I would never schedule it at nap time and I knew I did it first thing in the morning. Well, SIL and her BF have a breakfast reservation somewhere and didn't think they would be there yet, so they moved it to later so they could go with us. Then, on MK day, they removed our meeting Mickey FP+ because "Why would you need a FP to see Mickey? He's all over the park." and replaced it with PoC because they want to go on it with our kids. UMMMM, I don't NEED a FP for PoC! The line shouldn't be that long! They also replaced Storytime with Belle (because they don't know what that is) with Jungle Cruise (because all kids like Jungle Cruise)!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having a panic attack!

I have no idea what else she moved because she doesn't "remember." WTH???

I do like the new system, but I'm surprised it allows other people not on your room reservation to replace and move your FP+. Anyone else have this problem?

So sorry OP. I would be fuming! Definitely why I don't travel with my family, LOL!

maybe I missed something... you linked everyone together and you scheduled everyone's FP+. did you have a conversation with everyone about what you had planned on doing and what the plans were concerning daily programming? I understand the you (OP) are experienced and can do this in your sleep, but it is her trip as well. maybe she was trying to quietly trying to show you how it feels to have your plans scheduled by someone else. no, she shouldn't have changed your times, but did you have permission to even schedule hers in the first place? IJS...

No - she linked them all for dining, but she only scheduled fast pass for HER family, not her sister. Her sister on the other hand, was not so courteous - and scheduled FPs for the entire group and cancelled the OPs carefully planned efforts.
