Big WDW traveler here! I've been to the World over 30 times, but this is my first time with MDE/FP+. After an initial mini panic about having to choose FP rides 60 days out (maybe I don't, but I feel like I do to get what we want) and not always knowing which park we want to commit to each day, I'm really liking the new system. I'm a huge planner, and I used to sit with a spread sheet and try to plan the best attack. Now, the system lets me do it "officially" and I kind of like it.

Anyway, we are a family of 6 traveling with our 4 little kids in May. MIL, FIL, SIL, and SIL's BF decided they would like to come with us. So, I put everyone in MDE and linked our accounts, etc. Then, I sat down with my little spread sheet (OCD, much?) and planned my FP+ around our meal times, nap times, estimated meltdown times, parade times, fireworks times, etc. I did it right at 60 days out. I was so pleased with my plan I could burst!

Now, today, I just looked at my itinerary. SIL MOVED my FP+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could scream! I noticed because I had selected 9:35-10:35am at KS on our AK day. I like to do the safari in the morning to see the animals the best. I noticed it was at 1:45pm now. I knew I didn't schedule it then because I would never schedule it at nap time and I knew I did it first thing in the morning. Well, SIL and her BF have a breakfast reservation somewhere and didn't think they would be there yet, so they moved it to later so they could go with us. Then, on MK day, they removed our meeting Mickey FP+ because "Why would you need a FP to see Mickey? He's all over the park." and replaced it with PoC because they want to go on it with our kids. UMMMM, I don't NEED a FP for PoC! The line shouldn't be that long! They also replaced Storytime with Belle (because they don't know what that is) with Jungle Cruise (because all kids like Jungle Cruise)!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having a panic attack!

I have no idea what else she moved because she doesn't "remember." WTH???

I do like the new system, but I'm surprised it allows other people not on your room reservation to replace and move your FP+. Anyone else have this problem?

It allowed them to cause u allowed them to. When u linked them and got we travel together they. They cAn change stuff just like u can. It's not really a big deal just go back in and change em back. I have been playing with ones for our Easter trip for weeks now and never got blocked out of a time we wanted. Just know they can change em back. If u didn't link them they could just make thier own and not change urs bit them u might not have the same times. Or just change ur times to what u want and let them do what they want. Just click on ur names only and tell her to not check ur names if she changes anything for them. Plain and simple. Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I would have a serious sit-down with her and explain that she can do whatever she wants with her FPs, but leave my family's alone. And then explain why you don't need one for Jungle Cruise, etc. It's rude of her to change them - it's astonishing to me that she would change them without asking or telling you after the fact.

Yes....I would also be having a COW if my traveling companions rearranged my trip without consulting me.... I hope you can get it straightened out!

I would have freaked.

Sometimes I think about going to disney with others than my wife. and how much of a nightmare it would be.

Instead I just bug her with my OCD. :-)

I'd be pretty p****d off too! You should be ok to go and do it over (however inconvenient it is!). Better to have found out now though rather than when you get there.

After redoing it, I would tell her in no uncertain terms: HANDS OFF!

WOW. Feeling lucky that the family we're traveling with this spring is not tech savvy enough to figure out how to change FP+ or anything else! Surely you have enough time to get it straightened out, but if you're organizing the trip for everyone, it's pretty rude to just start moving reservations around without telling you.

Yes, I understand that that is why they could do it. But, never having done it before, I didn't realize it was that easy for someone else to rearrange everything. I also have no idea why she would want to. Obviously, she's not an experienced WDW traveler, and I wanted her to be able to see what we did and do the same if she wanted to. It never occurred to me that she would change our plans.

It's a family vent (per the title) and not a criticism of the system.

Yes, so glad I looked! So far, no problems getting things back the way they were, and I did talk to her about not moving our stuff (or at least consulting us before doing so). If I hadn't looked, I would have been so mad when we got there.

This is why I've told the friends we are meeting that we will NOT be adding each other to one another's MDE accounts. One family is pretty peeved about it and taking it personally but I really don't like that someone can touch my account even by accident, never mind deliberately move things about. OP I'd be pretty upset too. But the previous poster is right in that this is one of the results of adding folk to your account. The annoying part is that without doing so, it's not easy to try schedule rides together.

So, I put everyone in MDE and linked our accounts, etc.
You implicitly gave her permission to alter your account.

Once again the law of unintended consequences raises it's ugly head. It sounds like you need to have a little give and take. When I take noob's to Disney I tell them to trust my planning, you will get to see and do everything. If they sign on it's my way. If they choose something else that's fine. We plan to meet for only a few things and let them do it wrong.;)

It's kinda lousy that your SIL changed your stuff, but she probably disliked the way you planned her stuff.

This sounds like something that my sil would do. Sorry that you had to have that moment of panic. I am glad that you posted about it though. I will know better than to add them to ours when we go together now.

Not sure why you would change someone else reservation even if you were planning to go together.

If you decide that you don't wanna do the Mickey meet and greet because you think it's a waste, don't change everyone's. Just make sure that when you're done wasting time elsewhere, you meet up with the group to see their awesome photos with Mickey

If they dont go to Disney often maybe she didnt know what she was doing would mess up a bunch of plans. Who knows maybe a window popped up when she was online and asked her to make her fastpass selections ? Anyway I would be upset if someone did that to my plans also. But just saying maybe she is inexperienced about the whole thing ?

Yep yep and YEP.

I'm also happy that my mom is not tech savvy and just letting me take care of everything. I would be furious!

She had every right to change HER FP+ times to another time/experience. She had NO right to change YOURS! NONE. Bad enough shifting times, but to cancel experiences - totally not cool  I think you just got your first warning on how this trip might be heading..... You know what you are doing, the fact that she didn't even try to talk to you first about making some changes tells me that she is not going to be easy to travel with. Peace be with you ;)

This is a perfect reason why (1) I am extremely picky about who I travel with (2) Even if I do travel with people, I will never make "family & friends" connections with anyone - we will just have to try to book FP+ in same time frame (3) Eats together will be a few agreed upon and I will book the ADR so I know it's done as agreed upon.

What the heck is wrong with your SIL? Since when does she think she gets to change around stuff for other people? I would have lost it on her.

OP, I hope you're not setting yourself up for a meltdown. 10 people is a big party, and things are doubtlessly going to veer off your plan many times during the trip.

Complete sympathy! I am so happy our family will be traveling for the first time completely alone after 6 years in a row of someone joining us -pixiedust: good luck and lots of patience!!!

No, it's not really like that. She has been to WDW once. We all went together 5 years ago. It was fine. I prefer to travel with just my family, but we are going for DH's 40th birthday, and they wanted to come. I get it. It's harder and involves quite a bit of compromise, but we go fairly often (although not as often anymore due to cost with our growing family) so it's fine to go with other people sometimes.

When we went together last time, we ate some meals together and hung out some together, but we all (essentially 3 families) do our own thing. It is not an expectation that we spend all time or all meals together. We decided on a few meals ahead of time, and I booked them. Then, I told them we would link everyone together so everyone could keep track of those meals and book more for themselves as desired. Same for Fp. I didn't book any for her. I did ours only-not knowing how much time they would be with us. For one, SIL and her BF are 20 something's with no kids. I assumed they would want to do things other than what we will do with our 7, 5, 2, and 4 month old kids. Same with FIL and MIL who are only there for half of the trip.

I told them I was going to book our stuff and let them do their own stuff as they knew what they wanted, but that I could help if needed. They are all tech savvy. I think SIL, having only been there once, just went through and got FP for her favorites. She isn't experienced enough to know what FP was actually needed for, so she did her own thing. Then, wanting to experience her favorites with our kids, she changed ours.

Oh, and for the record, the Mickey and Princess meet and greets are all sold out for our trip on every day of our visit. So, it's not possible to just reschedule. Just use this as a warning if you are in this situation. Keep a close eye on things.
