Everyone, please please be very careful if you do any kind of modifications of your wedding guests' reservations with Disney Group Reservations.
I expected that they would all be experts at it since handling groups is more difficult than handling individual reservations.
I moved one family over to a DVC reservation (because my waitlist matched), so they no longer needed their Disney hotel reservation at the Beach Club.
A 2nd family had been calling back daily to try to get one more night at the Beach Club.
The 2 families' dates overlapped so I thought, perfect! I can give the first family's night to the other family.
I called and explained very carefully the slightly complex situation, and the CM who answered sounded like she knew exactly what she was doing. She told me the first room was canceled, and then she went ahead and extended the 2nd family's reservation one more night. She reconfirmed the dates with me and everything. I thought everything worked out great!
Well, guess what. Today I asked for a final report from Group Reservations so I can double check that everyone's hotels are all set with no problems.
Turns out, that CM never really extended the reservation. That night was lost! It is certainly possible to do the switch and transfer a room to another guest, however, that CM didn't do it correctly.
So... moral is, DOUBLE or TRIPLE CHECK your guests' reservations! If I had caught it earlier, I might've been able to fix the error. But it's a week later now and the room is gone.
