:scared1: Holy cow! I think my heart stopped for a second there. He did a full somersault down the stairs. He is wearing a blanket sleeper, so I guess his feet slipped. He's real off balance anyway and he had a similar accident last year when he fell down the stairs and fractured his shoulder.

I went right to him and he was whimpering and shaking. All i could think of is "Dear God, please don't let me have to show up at the ER *again* with this mentally handicapped child with another fractured shoulder.":sad2: Can you say CPS?

Ugh. I think he's okay, just shook up. I got him to move everything and DH got him on his feet. Christian walked to his bedroom where he is now playing with toys.

I think I just lost a few years off my life :duck:

How frightening. Keep an eye on him. If he's not eating or throwing up, get to the ER ASAP. Of course this is so hard at night because you don't know if they are just tired or it it's b/c of an injury. Sending prayers and good wishes that there is no injury.

Wow, it must be the day! My brother and law and 3YO nephew (his son) took a tumble down their stairs today! DSis sent me a text to let me know they're fine according to the ER, just shaken up and a couple of smashed spots; BIL hiney, Neph lip/chin.

Good to hear that Christian's wasn't serious!

Hugs to all of you. I'm glad he's okay.

How very scary! Sending *pixie dust* and prayers your sweet Chrisitian is ok.

You bet I'll be watching him tonight. I just hope he doesn't have a seizure (he has epilepsy and sometimes stress will do it.) If he does, we'll be going to the hospital for sure.

So far, so good. No vomiting, crying has stopped, seems to be acting pretty normal :thumbsup2

Thank God that Christian is okay. My DD took a tumble down the stairs last week. It seemed liked she went down in slow motion and I couldn't get to her fast enough to help her as I screwed up my left knee from taking a tumble down the stairs myself a few weeks ago.

Hugs to you and Christian:grouphug:

Oh, so sorry to hear this Minky. Praying Christian will heal and feel better real soon. Guess Samuel wasnt there at the time, huh? But its good to hear christian is playing with his toys, that sounds very positive. Blessings to you all.Keep us updated.

sorry christian fell. have you considered joining the "epic bad parent" thread???!!!!! :lmao:

Samuel couldn't come in tonight. We've all been hacking up a lung for the past week and I'm afraid he's got it now. Poor guy.

 Yeah, I guess I'm qualified now. Let's see, so far Christian has had the fractured shoulder, 2nd degree burns covering both feet, a broken foot, fractured wrist that I didn't know anything about until they did a full body xray last year when he fell, stitches to the head plus a major concussion from falling 3ft off the porch. Uh, yeah. I definitely qualify.:upsidedow

Oh poor Christian, and poor you!! I'm glad he's feeling better now.

A friend of mine taught her toddler a technique of getting down on his tummy, keeping his head up and simply SLIDING down the stairs, (like a sled,) feet first. Then standing up at the bottom.

When I first saw it, MY heart stopped. :scared1: But, she said it's really effective and SAFE. The kid is already against the ground. No worrying about him pitching forward and tumbling down or getting his feet tangled as he's trying to climb down on his own. Kids (at that age) are so light that they actually slide down all the steps instead of bumping over each step, getting hurt. They just have to keep their head and feet up, so their chin doesn't bump against the edge of the stairs, and their their feet don't get caught, either.

There are probably directions for this technique somewhere online.

Scary.

One of my sisters died that way.

Yikes! Glad he is ok!

DD did that when she was three, on Mother's Day no less! I was in the kitchen and heard her fall but couldn't get there fast enough. She dislocated her elbow but I inadvertantly popped it back in while looking at her. By the time we got to the ER, she was laughing and chatting...DH and I, on the other hand, had several more gray hairs!

Yeah, that probably would have worked when he was 3yo. Christian is 14yo and 5'7" (he's very mentally hanicapped) He's a real sweet kid but he has almost no sense of personal safety. It's a little bit like living with a gigantic 120-lb butterfly. :goodvibes

I threw away a pair of slippers because I was forever slipping on the stairs in them. Only rubbersoled slippers for me now, or slipper socks with grippy things on the bottom. I'm glad he's OK!

I have a "normal" (really what is normal?) 13 year old with the same personal safety sense and no sense of personal boundaries. Plus, she inherited my clumsiness (I fell into a post this summer busting ribs)....I am so surprised she has "only" broken her arm.

I am so glad Christian is doing okay.
