Ok, so I went ahead and got a Premium AP last time I went to DL. But I went without DH :scared1: so he is AP-less! The horror! We are thinking of skipping over there during the Labor Day holiday. We don't really NEED another Premium AP, right? The Deluxe would be fine, but it is blocked out that weekend.

Our planned trips to DL would be in February, May, and sometime in the summer of next year. But sometimes we have "unplanned" trips that just happen! :lmao: Should we just go ahead and get the Premium or get him the Deluxe? Do most people get Premium for the whole family, or just one member? I feel like the extra bit to get free parking and better discounts is worth it for one pass, but maybe not two. I don't know!

Maybe we should buy a parkhopper for the blocked out days and then upgrade on the last day? Do you upgrade at the ticket booth nowadays? Since it is 0% financing, we might be tempted to do the monthly payments, but can you even do that if you upgrade from a parkhopper?

I would love to hear what your family does! :teacher:

I would do the parkhopper thing and upgrade to the AP your last day. I would do the deluxe - you can always upgrade him to premium later, if need be. I've heard it's done at the ticket booths now.

I have no idea about the payment plan, since I'm not eligible for it, I've never researched it.

The day you buy the AP you can enter. So you could buy it on the blocked Saturday.

Do consider next summer, will three visits have block out days? If so it will probably be better to get the Premium.

Who usually pays? The premium has better discount and some CM's follow the rules, so if the card is coming from his wallet he would only get his delux discount.

If you are not likely to go on any other blocked out days, then your plan of buying a parkhopper and upgrading to a deluxe AP on the last blocked out day will work fine. Are you likely to go back on 2 or more blocked out days though anytime in the next year?

We buy premiums for our family of 4. We do not live locally. It's about a 7 1/2 hour drive for us. We go to DL 4-6 times per year. Because I don't like to pull the kids out of school too often, we are usually restricted to holiday breaks and summers. Also, I enjoy Saturdays and holidays at the park. So the premium pass makes the most sense for our family. We usually enter the parks 5 or more days a year that would be blocked out with the deluxe.

You get a freebie on the day you buy your annual pass. If you just need a ticket on one blackout date, you can buy him the Deluxe and it will be valid the day you purchase it.

I'm pretty sure that when you upgrade to an AP from a hopper you have to pay the difference then, it doesn't qualify for the financing.

Thanks everyone! The dates we are looking at in February and May would be unblocked, because I have a flexible schedule and DH is a college instructor, so once the semester is over, we can go during the week.

And I don't mind paying for him with my Premium AP, since the money all comes from the same place. Anything to get the sweet discount!

So I am probably leaning towards getting the parkhopper and upgrading to the Deluxe, which I think we do at the ticket booths now. Since Saturday and Sunday are blocked out, I can upgrade on Sunday without paying for a blockout ticket, correct?

Thanks! :wizard:
